I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned on this board, yet.

For those who use their Target credit/debit cards, you will get an additional 5% off your merchandise -- all the time -- every day.

And now, the budget angle -- since applying for a new credit card is something a lot of us don't like to endorse, there's nothing wrong with Target's debit card -- it links directly to your checking account and offers all the same benefits with NO FEES.

Details, here (and in your Sunday paper's ad).

There was a thread a few months back about the check card. I have it and am very happy to save 5%. It may not seem like much, but it does add up!

For those that don't carry a balance, the checker at my Target told me that you can charge the purchase on your card to get 5% off, then head right over to Customer Service and pay the bill. I haven't tried this yet, but just put my (never used) Target card in my wallet yesterday after I read their Sunday ad that announced the 5% savings. I plan to do just as she suggested, though, because I don't want to overspend.

I signed up for the card yesterday. Saved $6.50 on the first purchase. I usually use Discover everywhere for cash back and never carry balance, but this is better for one of my favorite shopping places. I also use the pharmacy so I'll get an additional 5% coupon to stack once in a while.

I saw this too in the ad SUnday. I noticed it said though you cannot get the %5 off on online orders with the Debit card. So now I'm trying to decide if I want to do the debit or credit. I don't buy much online at Target but I do have something I need to order that is only available online. I really really liked the idea of a debit, which I wondered how they do that, I always thought you had to do that thru your bank? But if I'm able to pay my charge card right their at Target that is something to think about too.....

I've had mine (debit card) for a couple of years.

Basically, every time you conduct a transaction at any Target register, it performs an ACH debit to your bank account for the amount rung-up.

Normally, the ACH debit hits your bank within 24-48 hours.
