I think I remember someone saying to bring an extension cord for your room?

Can someone help me out with this, as we will have three women in our room and will need blow dryers and curling/flat irons going at once getting ready for dinner.

How are the blow dryers? I think Ive heard they are rather wimpy. I like the ones they have at WDW? are they similiar?

The blow dryers are indeed a bit wimpy but it eventually did its job. You're not supposed to plug blow dryers or curling irons into the plugs in the bathroom. (It's only meant for shavers and low electricity stuff.)

We brought an extension cord and plugged it into the desk outlet.

I bought a travel power strip and plugged it in at the desk. I used it for my hair dryer and curling iron. Make sure you unplug these appliances when you leave the room. If you don't, your room steward will. We also used the plug behind the TV to recharge camera batteries.

We also brought a power strip. I fully expected it not to be in our suitcase but it was there. I don't see how we could have managed without it.

I loved everything about our cruise except for the hairdryer. It was horrible. I didn't know about the other outlets until I came home from the cruise and read the DIS board. Bring your own just in case.

The blow dryers are VERY wimpy! The power strip is the best idea, I just plugged mine in at the desk and did everything I needed to there while the rest of my family used the washrooms.

If someone had not pre-advised us to take that power strip :cheer2: we would have been in a "mell of a hess" without it! :eek:3 females primping in one room without the extra outlets would have been no fun! (since you can't use the ones in the bathrooms for your personal hair dryer, curling/flat iron, etc)

Best advice, if you're picky, bring your hair dryer and an extension cord.

We found the built in hair dryer blew too much air that was too hot. DD has long thick hair and it was about fried by the hair dryer.

But, my unscientific survey indicates that a lot of folks use a cross between a flame thrower and a leaf blower at home as a hair dryer.:goodvibes

I found the hairdryer to be fine. It wasn't "high powered", but did the job. Hey, I'm on vacation, the last thing I worry about is my hair being perfect! I was lucky if I even put makeup on before dinner. I think I only even did that on Formal night and Semi formal, and of course Palo :). The power strip did come in handy though for chargers for cameras, phones, electronics, etc. The hairdryer would just take up too much room in my, already filled to the max, suitcase. So, totally not worth it to me :).

Uh oh! I can see it now:

Me: "I need to bring my hairdryer. Leave room in the suitcases for it."

DH: "You don't need a hairdryer, they have one in the resort and on the cruise."

Me: "But the one on the cruise is whimpy, so I've heard."

DH: "What do you care, your on vacation??????"

If I bring it, I may have to hide it :)

I'm a naturally curly girl who wears her hair straight. I don't have time for a wimpy hair dryer and I also need to plug in a flat iron. I guess I will be bringing an extension cord and a power strip! I plan on just letting it curl on beach days but otherwise I like it straight. :thumbsup2 DH already knowss that I don't compromise over the hair situation. These things WILL have room in the suitcase.

As a fellow naturally curly headed girl, the built in hair dryer will not even begin to get the curl out. Not even close! You definitely will need to bring your own hair dryer.

Ah-ha!! See I knew it. It takes POWER to tame this mane. :lmao:

I cannot forget a cord and surge protector...my sleep machine will not reach that far!

I remembered the surge protector/power strip for my sleep machine but forgot the extension cord.

If you do happen to forget an extension cord you can get one on the ship from the guest services desk. I think it was a $25 deposit which I got back when I returned the cord before leaving that last morning!
