My DH needs one with his C-Pap, and not allowed to bring an extension cord or power-strip on a Disney Cruise.
And I was told by MS that if I did it would be confiscated.
But MS tells me we can get one on the ship and pay a $50 deposit / it's refundable after cruise.
Ten bucks I can understand, but $50 is nuts , it's a 3day cruise.
I wonder how many people forget and put the cord in the bag and bring it home???

But this is an option? Because my mom needs to bring hers on our 4-night cruise, and she's wondering how she will plug it in.

We requested a cord on every cruise, and I don't recall there being a deposit charged.

Also, which ship are you on? Most of the ships have outlets on the nightstand, don't they?

Be sure to contact DCL's special services department (407-566-3602) and have your reservation noted as needing an extension cord for medical equipment. Otherwise they are available on a first-come-first-served basis. It's my understanding needs for medical equipment will be set-aside/guaranteed.

And yes, the $50 deposit is exactly to prevent people from throwing it into their bag without returning it. If that happens too often, one won't be available for passengers boarding the next cruise.

Enjoy your cruise!

Have been on both the Dream and the Magic with a CPAP machine for DH. We haven't needed an extension cord - he has been able to plug it in on or near the nightstand on both ships.
That's a fairly new concept. Time was the only outlets available in the rooms was on the desk. The outlets at the sides of the beds have been added to the Magic & Wonder in the last couple of years.

We'll be on the Dream and I'll give Special Services a call.
Thanks everyone

UPDATE... I called and they have noted it on our reservation ,The CM also asked about having distilled water to be delivery to our cabin. So we are good to go, now we just have to wait until May 2017 :boat:
Thank you all.:thanks:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

The only ship without bedside outlets is the Disney Wonder, but that should change after her upcoming drydock. I use a CPAP and have it put on my reservation that I am requesting distilled water and an extension cord for it. Since it is used for a medical device, I do not get charged the $50 deposit and it is waiting in the room when we arrive. This is important since the number of extension cords available are limited, this way I don't have to hope I can get one at Guest Services since it is on my reservation. I have done this on all 4 ships and have never had a problem.

It's already changed. We were on the Wonder last October and had outlets on either side of the bed (believe it was done during her "rolling dry dock" prior to the 2015 Alaska season):

I knew you would have the most up-to-date information. I had not been on Disney Wonder since June of 2013, but will be doing a back-to-back on her next October.

I haven't had to use an extension cord for my CPAP on the Dream class yet. My old machine was a tight fit on the nightstand, but my new machines fit like a "dream". ;)

We went on the Magic in March and borrowed a cord for my husband's cpap but ended up that we didn't even need it. There was an outlet right on the nightstand that he was able to use. We went back to guest services and turned in the cord, but the last day ended up with a $50 charge b/c they said we never turned it back in. I had to argue with 2 people about when and to whom we turned it in to. For now on, if we ever have to use one, I will for sure get someone to sign a paper saying that it was turned in. Not a very magical way to end your cruise arguing about a charge.

This is great, I didn't even know you could request distilled water, my mom was going to try to buy it in port and bring it on! I can't wait to tell her.

Be advised that in at least some of the Dream-class ships, the nightstand outlets are of the European kind only. You'll need a plug adapter to use a device with a US plug. I'm not sure of the voltage, but most appliances these days say "100-240V, 50-60Hz" which means they'll work with any outlet, as long as you can physically plug it in (perhaps with an adapter). Check your CPAP's label and make arrangements in advance if it only works on 120v 60Hz.
