Extending your vacation days....

Does anyone have experience with adding days onto your vacation while already at the resort? If it's during a slow time is this usually an easy task? Are the rooms discounted since you are already there? And if you extend your stay does the dining plan extend with it? Just curious, because if we're having a great time (which I know we will), we might want to extend our 7 night stay at the Yatch Club to 10. :grouphug:

A few years ago while staying at FW Homes we decided to add onto our stay the day before arrival. When I called I was told that there was availability but I would have to pay rack rate. I declined. When I checked in the next day, I asked & was told that not only was there availability but at my FL resident rate :flower:

Is there any penalty for checking out early? If it wouldn't cost anything, I'd make the reservation for the longest you think you might stay and just leave when you're tired of it. Otherwise, you risk not getting the rate, having to move, or not being able to stay at all.

JMHO.

We have added days on our vacations many times, and have always been given an extension on our AP rate.

We would drive down, so it was easy to just stay "one more day". Last summer we flew, so I didn't get to add on. To much of a problem to change airfare.

Swilshire: As far as checking out early, I do not know. I think if you alerted them 5 days before your intended departure , you would not have a problem, since this is the official cancellation policy on a room only reservation. :sunny:

When we checked out of the GF they asked if we would like to stay a few extra nights. My dad replied that we had to head back to Pennsylvania as he was out of vacation time.

When he asked how much it would be they told us we could add up to three nights for $99 per. That was quite a discount from the $500 per we payed for the room. Yes, we were told that we could stay in the same room.

I guess it was a slow time...
