I have a one week reservation for a premium site for our motorhome for the last week of February with check out scheduled for Sunday, March 2nd. I am wondering how likely I will be able to add a couple of additional nights (say Sunday and Monday nights) at the end of the week if we decide we would like to stay a few more days. Is that usually possible during that time of year or am I dreaming. We have 7 day park hopper tickets and have thought maybe I should have planned a few non-park days in the week and maybe staying a couple extra days would be a good idea. But I would kind of like to wait until we are there a few days to make my decision. Any thoughts from the FW regulars? Thanks so much for any comments.

I can't answer as to extending your stay, but I can vouch to your idea that non-park days are a great idea.

That is spring break, might be hard to extend your stay last minute. I'd try now to get your extra days. (there is no penalty and full refund if you leave a few days before your reservation check-out)

I just looked it up and there is sites still open for that time frame. Just call and I'm sure they will add the couple of days with no problem. Our spring break in Orlando is not till the last week of march this year.

If you're looking for a definitive answer you're not going to get it here. For the dates you're interested in there are all categories open at the current time. You can risk it and wait until you get there or book it now.

If you are the type that is willing to go with whatever happens I say wait. If you're the type that needs to plan most things ahead of time then book now.

Non park days are always a good idea. You need a little R&R, maybe laundry, explore DTD etc .....and I'd do it in advance so you don't have to worry about availability as you plan your time.

Thanks for all of the replies. I decided to go ahead and book two additional days. I called and asked to add the days but the CM said that because the reservation is 48 days out I would have to pay $50 to "modify" my existing reservation in addition to the cost of the two additional nights. So I declined her "offer" and just booked a new reservation for the 2 nights I wanted and then linked them on MDE. Not sure why there would be an additional modification charge to add available dates, but it the new reservation worked just as well. I understand that there is a chance I will have to move my motorhome from one site to another, but I think they will work with me at the fort because both reservations are for premium sites. Thanks again.

Maybe that was a down payment for the additional days? :confused3 Did your down payment for the two days come close to that cost?

I've gotten off the phone with Disney reservations, as I knew the person did not know what they were talking about, called back and achieved my intent. This was prior to the long wait times people are encountering now, though.

No Sur, the initial payment I had to make for the two nights was the cost of the first night because it was a "room only" purchase. That is considerably more than the $50 cost to modify. Any way, I decided it was just easier to book a second reservation rather than try to argue with the CM or call back again. I was able to do the additional days by just booking online. In addition, I did it through my daughter's travel agency and maybe she will get some small commission for those days, I don't know for sure.

The system of "book longer, then drop days" or book multiple reservations and link is so flawed. I had to do this for my trip next fall. Unfortunately there's a hole in the middle where we had to book another type of site.

I hope the system can be remedied someday, especially to exclude unsavory business practices of holding reservations that won't be utilized. I just want to stay there!

Glad you achieved your days!
