Extending MYW tickets?

Sorry if this is a repeat question, but we are planning our first Disney trip on the spur of the moment :cool1: , and I'm not real familiar with how this works. My husband has never been and I haven't been since I was a kid, so we're not 100% sure of the ins and outs, and don't have a whole lot of time to learn it all, so we need help from you experts! :worship:

How late is too late (or is it ever) to upgrade your park tickets? We currently have 6 day MYW tickets with no park hopper options. It now looks as though we can time our arrival and departure to take advantage of two partial days at the parks. However, I'd rather not go through the hassle of calling reservations to do this if we can just wait and upgrade once we get there in the event we DO decide to go to the park the extra days.

So...
1. If we get there and decide we'd rather do the parks for 7 or 8 days instead of 6, can we upgrade once we get there, or is this something we really need to take care of now? If we can upgrade, can we do so with the discounted price (not have to pay full price for an extra 2 day ticket?)

2. Can we wait to add the park hopper option once we are ready to hop, or do we need to do that ahead of time?

You can upgrade anytime up to the 14th day after you first use it (inclusive of that first day). So if you first use it on a Sunday, you can upgrade any time through the second Saturday afterwards.

That included adding additional days (up to the maximum 10) or any options like park hopper.

The cost to upgrade is the difference between the price of the current ticket (days used or unused, not just unused) and the new ticket, plus tax.

If you received any sort of discount on the original ticket, or if you are unsure, use it before upgrading. That way you will get the current gate price in credit towards the new ticket.

You can do all upgrades while you're there, any day, as long as its within 14 days of the ticket's first use. It will cost the same to do those upgrades no matter how many park days you have used/not used at that point.

The important thing to remember is even if you add days to a ticket (or WPF&M Option) you do not extend the expiration date. So if your first day of use of a ticket is a Sunday, it will not work for any park entry after midnight on the second Saturday, even if there are still "live" entitlements on the ticket.

I just a couple of days ago had a problem with a Guest who had bought some used tickets; they still had entries but had passed the 14 day mark and were no longer valid. They had to come to my window when the turnstiles would not let them in.
