Has anyone ever requested a late check out time, say another hour before you have to officially check out?

I was wondering how hard it would be to get, since we have a late afternoon flight. I imagine its almost impossible because of the amount of people checking in and out on the same days.

Just wondered if anyone had had any luck or even requested this.

Thanks:
Carol

I know about DVC resorts. No late checkouts at all for DVC resorts.

Other WDW resorts do allow late checkouts, but there might be a charge involved. You have to request them as early as possible.

You can go ahead and check out and have them store your luggage until it's time for you to leave.

our family never gets it together, and we've often been allowed an extra hour. sometimes mousekeeping are circling pretty ravenously by the time we leave

We checked out late by an hour on our trip in May at WL. No problems at all (I think checkout was 11am but we checked out at noon).

I asked for a late checkout of 1:00 and it was honored. I requested it on my reservation and also checked back at the lobby early the morning of checkout.

One year our flight didn't leave Orlando until 6:00 pm so we requested to stay in our room until 2:30. I belive we were charged $35.00, which was worth not having to sit in the lobby or the airport.

You can sometimes get an extra hour. It depends on how crowded they are. I have actually been told no on the extra hour a few times.

However, don't just assume you can stay, if you don't get premission they can charge you and have the right to charge you the rack rate room charge for one more full day since you did not vacate as agreed. (They can't evict you LOL!)

I requested and received a 1:00 PM checkout at AS Sports in June. There was no charge. I think it depends on the number of check outs/ins that day.

Thanks for the good answers, I would never assume a late checkout without permission, so I will have our agent put it on our reservation that we would like for a later time if possible.

Thanks:
Carol

Carol, it's usually a good idea to note late or early arrival on your reservation, but for the extended check-out time, you'll need to verify it with the front desk after you arrive. On the few occassions that we've done this, we're usually given until 1pm at no additional charge, but are advised to call the front desk the evening before we check out to make sure it's okay.

We've asked a couple of times but have never been able to check-out late. We've been told (at AKL) that they only allow a small number of guests to do this. Once that number is reached, they don't allow more.

Although we didn't actually use it, we got approved for a 1:00 check out at AKL when we stayed there in June.

Depends on hotel policy and who is checking in. If the hotel is booked probably not. Sometimes we have been able to squeeze an extra hour or two by talking to house keeping and they have agreed to clean the room we are occupying last. :rolleyes1

I always ask for a late check out and usually get it. It has been 5 years since a Villa, just booked BCV :grouphug: , but we did get a late checkout there. The regular hotels usually will give you your request.

We've had late checkouts several times, sometimes until 1 and other times until noon. We've also been told "no" once. There is an extra charge for later than 1. Although I've generally asked at check-in, they always told me to call the day before checkout.

If the resort is over 90% occupancy, late checkouts will generally not be granted.

During times when occupancy is lower, the resort can only have two rooms per housekeeping block. This is so the housekeepers can make sure to get all rooms cleaned as quickly as possible for check in.

Typically, there is no charge up to 1pm. After 1pm, there is a 50% rack rate charge. After 3pm (Check-in) you must purchase the room for the night, as it cannot be resold.

We have been granted late check-outs everytime we have asked at the resorts. One time I got very ill the day we were to fly out and they were especially nice to us. My DH showed proof I had went to a McMedical to get treatment, we were given a very late check-out with no charge. We went straight to airport.........this was before all the security features.
