Extended Evening Hours - 2023 Deluxe Hotels

Yes! We did this labor day weekend and it worked well. Joined the VQ while waiting for the monorail after dinner at Ohana. Our group had AP’s and hoppers.
so you don't need to be in the park to join the extra hours VQ?

With the return of After Hours, the perk of a couple of hours for extended evenings that in our experience have been quite crowded, really doesn't mean much to us. I've always been a devoted fan of the Deluxe resorts, but have been doing resort switches just to include the eeh's at the MK during our stays. I really do love our Deluxe resorts, but there's just nothing in the way of perks to justify staying there. Discounts have been abysmal and there were actually no AP discounts at all for our last stay- not out of availability- there wasn't an offer at all.

After Hours are pricey, but IF they continue with the same crowd levels they had before, worth every penny. AP's get a pretty decent discount so I can buy for the whole family. We can get more done in 3 hours at AH's than we can all day in a busy park and the experience is much more pleasant. And what I spend for those tickets will be offset and more by a less expensive resort. I really like POFQ, so most likely that's going to be my resort of choice until they decide to offer something that makes a Deluxe worth the price for us. I paid over $700 a night for our BC stay- I can get any moderate for much, much less. I'm sad to give them up, but even I get to the point where I see it's just not worth what I'm paying. EEH's were the last shred of perks linked to a deluxe stay.

we still don't know if they will get rid of Extended evening hours. MK has EEH on Wednesdays and After hours for MK are monday or thursday.

I believe they will continue both, EEH to force people to go to deluxe, and AH for people that want to stay off site but still enjoy that (and paying a lot).

WDW always had some sorte of EEH for disney resorts

I guess the question is does Disney need EEH to help fill deluxe resorts, or are those properties projecting to sell just fine without them?

I do see it a little as a bait and switch if they don't keep it going till the end of the 50 Years Celebration.... lot's of people will be expecting that perk. Of course with 100 Years Celebration kicking in before the 50th is even over, they might need something to use as a "promotion" for it as well.

I was at Epcot on Friday, and the park was very busy.... Figment and Nemo were near an hour wait at some point. A LOT of people were voicing their frustration with Disney and it's pricing and Genie+ (it couldn't really handle the crowds).... both young and old were fed up. We were mostly people watching with the long wait times and our not needing to do rides as we had just been. But never had experienced this much negativity.... Usually you'll hear a comment here of there, but not a dozen groups within a couple of hours. In time Disney might have to work harder to win back guest... or not.

But that's my point- for us and I think probably for a lot of other people, the value of the EEH's is diminished greatly by the addition of the After Hours. While EEH's are "free", After Hours is a vastly better experience and the cost is easily wiped out just by what one saves by going to a moderate or even value resort. Our BC room cost $700 a night. We got POFQ for under $300- that's $400 a day, times a 5-8 day stay? We get After Hours and we save a ton of money.

I'm the only one in my group with an AP, but for the others, they would not buy regular tickets for the days we did After Hours and I can get the AH's at a significant savings. So for me, I don't care if they continue with EEH's or not. I've been disappointed in the experiences we've had with them- Epcot is pretty much not worth it and the MK is fairly busy during them. I much prefer the After Hours experience. I'm not saying we'll never stay Deluxe- we want a splurge trip with Concierge or want SAB or the experiences of AKL- but we certainly won't stay Deluxe every visit and that's huge change for us. My hope is that Disney decides to add some perks to the Deluxe resorts so I have a reason to pay that kind of money. $700 a night because it has interior hallways and a better pool- just can't do it.

Ah, I agree with you.

I had reserved Magic Kingdom for Wednesday, January 4. But I just can’t imagine that we will feel up to staying up that late. We typically do rope drop and need a break by about one or two every day. Even with a break and maybe a nap, there’s no way I could stay up till midnight lol so I switched that day to Epcot and reserved Magic Kingdom for Tuesday the third. I have FOMO but I’ll get over it!

For what it’s worth, the extended evening hours were not that big of a deal to us this summer. At Magic Kingdom, we did so much during the day that we had already rode everything and felt ready to head out by the time the extra hours started. We had purchased G+ so that had helped. It was nice at Epcot because it allowed us an extra ride on guardians of the galaxy due to the extra virtual queue for EEH guests, and a allowed for little more time in the evening.

Not a dealbreaker either way

I went this summer, and also after the marathon, which is a peak crowd. I thought the EEH park was practically empty. All the kiddie rides are walk on. They just let us sit on Soarin. Maybe if you're over at Test Track?

These EEH are a whole lot less people than they were before. Even the Waldorf doesn't get to go. I think they're an even better perk than they used to be.

Was the park open till 9 pm? When we are going (last week of Dec) I expect parks (esp MK) to be open until 11 pm and then the extra hours have even less value (esp. since everyone will be up until 1 am on midnight - fireworks plus transportation back).

We are excited for the Epcot deluxe extra hours. Staying over at Yacht/Beach so even better.

Is Living With the Land open? That's really our only must do :). Something about riding it late at night is eerie. Also looking forward to just taking pictures around an emptier Epcot at night.

Heading to the World this weekend for a week. I will be staying in AKL Saturday through Monday, then moving to Pop. Do I still get to use the EEH on Monday since it's my check out day? I'm assuming I shouldn't stay til 11 since I might not be able to get a bus back to Pop.

I’ve read yes. Someone else can chime in with actual experiences.
