Our ship gets to port by 5am and express walk off is supposed to start at 7.
Has anyone used this?
Is it realistic to think we could be in our car by 8:30?

We've done that at Port Canaveral more than once. Of course that is based on the ship actually arriving on time and customs clearing the ship by 7.

We did express walkoff on our second cruise (Fantasy) and were being picked up by the car service at somewhere between 730 and 745.

YMMV.

Easily. We've done it several time at PC and the latest we've gotten to our car is 7:45. However, as others have mentioned, only if there are no delays clearing the ship.

I didn't do express walk off, but got off at 7:30am, had a porter grab my bags, walked right through customs, grabbed a cab to beat those waiting for the shuttle, got a car rental at Budget at 7:55am, even though they were not suppose to open until 8, and on the road shortly after 8. I would let the porter grab your bags.

This was last month by the way.

Great thread. How do I let DCL know I want to do express walk off? Is there something at online check in? Based on my only 3 direct flight options being 11:01 out of MCO I have to book a private transfer and probably skip the sit down breakfast or I have to stay another night, or pay $600 extra for non direct afternoon flights. Airline travel and schedules just suck these days.

No need to let them know, just don't put your luggage out the last night. As a courtesy, we always let our stateroom host know we're doing express so that they're not waiting for our luggage to appear in the hallway.

Great point! I hadn't even thought to do this when we did express. It was super easy, we ran up to deck 11 early and got coffee and we had pre ordered room service breakfast and stuck it in the "fridge." So we ate, got cleaned up, and were off the ship and on the road by 8:30. Waiting for the Budget shuttle took the longest.
