We are going to Universal in late Aug. of this year. It will be two adults and two kids. I was debating staying in The new hotel opening Aug. or Royal Pacific only for express passes. If I stay in Aventura hotel 4 nights I save almost $500. Is anyone familiar with crowds level this late in August? Is the express worth the upgrade to Royal Pacific? Thanks in advance for your feedback.

The threads I read about end of August attendance were older ones

Things and patterns change over the years and what we used to say that end of August is great for low crowds, unknown if that will hold for 2018

Park hours are cut back for low attendance periods

Too soon to guess how it will be this year

Might also want to consider if you are going to Volcano Bay. If thats the plan, Aventura is a 3-5 min walk away from VB.

$500 savings is nothing to sneeze at. We have done late August many times and loved it. Your vacation is what you make of it. You will have to wait a little longer, or tour a little earlier (rope drop and EE is just as good as having EP's). I used that money saved to add a day or two to the stay at the cheaper hotel. Having extra days, even without EP's, had us not missing them at all.

thanks for the advice. I'm so torn between the two hotels. I'm really traveling on a budget this summer, but I did't want to wait in lines for hours. 500 dollar is a lot of money that can be used for food and parking. I think I may just end up doing Aventura Hotel and skip rides that have long waits, which may include Harry potter rides, which now also allow express pass. Thanks you again for the tips.

No matter what you decide for hotels, you’ll have oodles of fun on your vacation!

I thought CBBR was the only hotel with a dedicated VB entrance, and the only hotel you can walk to VB from

Aventura is right next door to Sapphire, and Sapphire uses a shuttle bus.

You are right. I stand corrected :)
