Hello!

I am currently planning a second trip to WDW and Universal. Last year, at the end of August we stayed offsite and used single rider (two adults) and had super short waits for everything. The longest we waited for any ride was 10-15 mins.

I figure this year will be busier with the HP expansion. We looked into getting a room onsite or buying the express pass but I wonder if it's worth the money. I know there are a few that don't have single rider, but we could hit those at rope drop.

Could anyone tell me which has shorter lines, express pass or single rider?

It varies. I'd give the single rider lines a try and if it isn't working for you, you can go and buy the express pass. They don't need to be purchased in advance or outside of the gates. They are for sale at many stores within the parks.

It depends...Honestly though if you can swing staying onsite , I would. The new HP stuff will be packed and though it may not offer express, onsite guests will likely get EARLY ENTRY which will help .

We have the best luck with single rider lines at HP and MIB. We have the worst luck at Spiderman.

Does each rider need their own express pass to keep up with?

The best way to do it, IMO, is to have a lanyard, preferably with a zip-loc badge holder. Put your park ticket on one side and your express pass on the other - that way they can scan both very easily without your having to remove them. We did this last year and it worked great. Whenever we got in line, we simply held the express side up without removing the lanyard, and they'd scan it and send us on our way. The zip loc closure keeps everything dry/intact if you go on water rides or if it rains (we bought a ten pack on ebay for a few bucks).
