we may be headed back to universal for the 1st time in over 6 yrs - 1st time ever to IOA - this JUN...paying $41/day/person for the Express Pass seems crazy to me - but if we want to see everything in both parks in one or two days, will we need to get them? we would definitely be going sometime during the week (monday, tuesday or thursday)...

If you want to see everything in 1 or 2 days - and you want to hit both parks, there's no question you'll want an express pass - or just spend one night onsite and get both days' FOTL for free.

Compared to Disney, it's a bargain.

We were there this past june and it gets very busy due to school being out so alot of people are in full swing of thier vacations at this time of year and I would say you will need the express passes and exspecially if you try to do both parks in 1 day cause we had the 7 day 2 park deal and when it got very busy we went back to our hotel and would pick up where we left off the next day.
so this year our vacation is shorter so we will be staying onsite for the unlimited express passes.

I did both parks in one day last June using the Express Pass. We got to IOA before it opened and were actually let in about 15 minutes early. We made it all the way around IOA without using Express Passes by about 10:30 and then we walked back around and went on a few things again. As it started to get busy and very hot out, we walked over to the Studios and used our Express Passes on all the rides there. The standby lines all had 30 minutes to an hour and a half waits. When we finished up at the Studios we walked back over to IOA and used our Express Pass on all the good rides which all had really long lines.

We're going on a weekday in June and are not staying at Universal.

The website says that you can only use the Universal Express pass once on each ride. How strictly is that enforced? Is it really worth the 40+ dollars?
