ExpoTV Users Stop In....

Hi all - thanks so much for this thread, I'm lovin' it! I haven't made a ton on expo but around $60 last month and $80 this month so far. My expo id is the same as here, jennz. I'm playing DISers reviews while mine upload! ;)

question-- can I do the videos on my digital camera or does it have to be a camcorder????

As long as your digital camera takes a higher quality MPEG file, you should be fine. I use a Canon Powershot, rather than my handicam, for most of my reviews and it works great. It was just easier to use my camera so I didn't have to keep switching out my home movie DVD from my Expo one.

okay well I DID A REVIEW ON MY DIGITAL CAMERA but I cant hear it well, do you think it will be louder when it is uploaded?

Do you have Windows Movie Maker on your computer? You can try to raise the audio before sending it to Expo. You can also add a title or edit out any problems. It's an easy to use video editing system that will help increase the quality of your video and the likelihood it will be accepted.

No I dont have movie maker but I am trying to upload it to expo now and it is talink like 15 minutes--is that normal?? I have DSL so I thought it would be faster than that:confused3

It seems that there are peak times for uploads.

Yesterday was the last day of the month so everyone was taxing the system to get vids in before the deadline.

Now all the earlybirds are loading vids they had waiting and again taxing the system.

No worries :)

Well I have to tell you EXPO isn't resting well with me. My videos have quality light, sound and I've tried to edit them as perfect as possible. At first it seemed like a great place.

Now that we are at the end of the Sept promotion they are rejecting tons of them for off the wall reasons that could have been shared 15 days ago when they were first uploaded.

Sunglasses on my face in pictures I used for travel points apparently make my face tend to lead the reviewer to take a stance that my face is hidden etc.

There were items in the data base that they reject saying they were not current. Then why have them in the DB?

One of my computers was rejected for not demoing the product. In all of my videos try to give detail info. If you have time check the computer one I did for the Dell 521. I did the same thing for my sons computer and they rejected me for no Demo. So instead of making an effort to give information both verbally and visually it seems that they would prefer I click the mouse a few times on camera and call it 4 out of 5 stars.

My son has a guitar that he is learning to play. Problem is he is 9. the cut off is 13 for kids to appear in the video. So I tried to play on the humor that I can't play the guitar and talked about all the features etc with a simple strum of the strings.

I was told in a response to have my son play the guitar..... Are you kidding me... it's almost like at times they reject videos because they just have to many to get through at this time of month. I'm the one who bought the guitar and I'm the one who can decide on it's worth. sigh...

If I decide to stick with making any money with them it will be simply by reviewing DVD's.

Sad really because I have been trying to be understanding and even supportive about the goals that they are trying to meet as well.

:guilty:

I'm sorry DIS'ers for venting. I will just have to try harder to keep pushing. I just wish they didn't wait so long to tell us about rejections.

I so agree with you. I put mine in as early as possible, just did 4 and DH waits, he always has tons of bogus (in my mind) rejections!

I did put my 4 year old one in a video to see if it would be approved, it was, it was actually him talking about tide, not even a kid thing. I would love to show him playing with some of his toys, etc, of course, for now I am sticking with DVD's.

MNWDWManiac - That's not encouraging, I think that your reviews that I've seen are really good. Hmmmm....

jessica52877 - please post and let us know if they approve the one your son is in! dd's been dying to do some. I told her I'd give her the $ on any that she wants me to do for her. :)

My DS is 9. He helped me review the Game Cube. He played the game while I talked and then I gave him the chance to say a few words about it (why he liked it, etc.). They approved that with no problem. HTH.

I've not had the problem of random rejections (yet). I had one rejected for poor quality lighting and I have to agree. It was dark. My problem is them putting stuff in the wrong category. I've had to email them about 6 items in the last couple of days. They've been very nice about it and corrected all the problems, but it would be nice if they got it right the first time. This all seems to happen at the end of the month when they are busy. It's very frustrating.

My DD's have helped me in a number of reviews. My older one plays the video games and kid DVD's and tells her opinions. She loves it! She wanted to get all elaborate and do the DVD reviews like an interview, so we did. My little one just played with her toys while I talked about them. I do introduce each piece, so I'm in there too.

Ok, a bit of an update. Expo responded to my request to re-review one of the videos they rejected and changed the status to approved. They even said they were sorry for any frustration they might have caused and that it was in fact an error by the

Kudos for them responding and correcting one error. Now if the rest go as smoothly :thumbsup2

I will reverse my choice for now and continue trying to provide good quality videos on all subjects :)

I cant get my videos to upload in less than like an hour and then sometimes it says its too large-- Im getting sooo frustrated!!

Mine take a while to upload but I think it's about 20 minutes or so. I do have to keep my videos under 3 minutes or the file is too large. I'm using my camera and not doing any editing.

Hope that helps!

The videos have to be under 50mb. I know on the Movie Maker there's a setting that will shrink the file size when you save it, if necessary. Otherwise, I don't know how you can make it smaller without editing software.

I had a bunch of rejections today for "poor audio". It's the same as all the other ones I did. I wonder if my complaint about the skreamer got me flagged?

Here's one to :lmao: over.......... They rejected a video for a worthless product because it didn't have a demo. It doesn't work, how am I supposed to demo it? I guess they wanted to see it sit there and do nothing. Sheesh....... all for a grand total of about $30 this month.

I might have missed something about sunglasses. But in my review for locations I used photos of things as well as some video. It was sunny out so I had on sunglasses. The reason for rejection on (3 so far) of my destination videos has been because my face was not identifiable. Mind you the picture on my profile was taken the same day I visited these sites. So it's the same shirt and even the glasses. The whole point of seeing you in the pictures is to prove you were at the location you are reviewing. So maybe someone can explain how they can reject this.

Nothing specific has been answered to me yet but here are some screen shots of the first video they rejected. Let me know if you would have trouble identifying my mug.
