I read somewhere that there is an expose that brings up much controversy about WDW behind the scenes, especially with the actions of cast members. (Sex, drugs, and alcohol, specifically among the college program kids, is what I hear.) :earseek: I was wondering if this article was out yet and if anyone had any links to it and/or articles related to this. Also, what are your opinions on this? (I'd love to hear what CMs have to say on this!) I, for one, am very shocked and saddened to hear this, as I love WDW and to hear this kind of thing goes on makes the magic of WDW dwindle for me. :worried:

Wow college age kids away from home possibly having sex, doing drugs and drinking alchohol -- now that is a shocker, who would have thought?? Disney is real life like anything else, I can't imagine why that would surprise anyone.

-AMEN-

Just because the Word "Disney" appears before College Program, don't think it's anything different than a normal internship ANYWHERE... It's a brand name like NIKE(tm) or HILTON(tm).

Go to Pleasure Island on a Thursday night and you can see firsthand :teeth: j/k i've never seen a cm do anything unruly there.

As long as CM's do their jobs right then its really not anyone's business what they do in their private life. I guess you could say Disney owns the college program kid's housing, but I'm sure its no crazier than any other dorm.

If this article would ruin the magic for you, then you probably shouldn't read it. You say the article is mostly about the college age kids. I've always considered that "age appropriate" behavior. Not specifically drugs, sex, and drinking - but being out on your own, finding your own boundries, making mistakes and learning from them. It's an important part of growing up.

The below may not be for younger readers or those who wish to preserve the idea of Magic Afterhours

Did anyone really expect otherwise?

I did the college program, and let's just say I had alot of fun! But it was always understood that it could never interfere with work! For gosh sakes batman! Playboy had listed Vista Way ( where CP kids live ) one of the top 5 places in the world to hook up! (in an article a few years back)

Everyone has fun, everyone gets drunk and has sex, it's how it happens... We were all early twenties and WAY AWAY from home!

And yes, Thursdays at PI are like a CM Zoo, just go and watch the freaks come out! LOL!

But, believe me, we all knew the consequences of going to far...

are you kidding? college program kids have A LOOOT of fun down there-parties, drinking, hooking up you name it. There are at least three nights a week when they can get drunk on disney property cheap, and there's a liquor store 50yds from the front gates of vista.....you get that many kids together with little to no supervision and of course ther's going to be stuff like that....the best piece of advice I got about vista- don't get in the hottub, if you know what I mean

Yeah, never ever touch the hot tubs! :rolleyes1

Should add that whomever will publish/produce this "expose" is pretty desperate for news---

Couldn't be said any better - Perfect!

Ive spent a lot of time at WDW and have never seen a cast member with a hangover,, if they are doing all this, it is not affecting their jobs as cm's.
pretty scary to think the cm's are mating, eewwwwww :)

As a college administrator and former college student-there is nothing surprising about this. As long as they are doing their job during working hours, it is none of our business.

My niece was in the CP two years ago. During the first general orientation meeting they were advised about the rules on partying. They said they had a zero tolerance policy. You get caught-you go home. Underage or no. They were told by others already in the program that it was a Disney non-rule rule, that everybody partied. So she and another guy went to a party and got drunk that same night. The party became wild and other guy got totally out of control. The cops were called and he was kicked out the next day.
After that they still partied, but were much more quiet when they did. :flower:

Overall, I think kids drink much more than our generation did anyway. Binge drinking is something that happens every week, not just once in a lifetime. And it's the majority doing it, not just the random future alcoholic we used to see doing it. It's scary. :(

you may be thinking of the book "Mouse tales". A friend gave it to me and it was pretty interesting. The author worked at Disney and interviewed many Cm's for this tell all book. Think Amazon has it.

If the CM put a smile on my kids face while we are down there I could care less what they do in their spare time.

You mean CMs are REAL people?

And CP CMs, are NORMAL 20 something kids?

They drink & have sex?!?! OH THE HORROR!

Who cares what they do on their time? As long as it is not effecting their work, who cares what a CM does on their own time?

Just because they work for Disney does not mean that we (the guests) own their lives. As long as they provide the magic during their working hours, who cares what they do back in their dorms or own homes or whatever?

We have no right to care what they do on their own time (as long as they are not like sex offenders on their time off or anything...That we could care about).

So I decided to look for this article and, if I found the correct one, its incredibly.. shall we say... extreme conservative right wing?

The entire article seemed to point fingers at WDWCP as a taudry and amoral program, that doesn't welcome anyone with Christian beliefs, unless they want to get taunted. Further, it seemed to slam Disney for allowing gays to work in the program, in their parks, and have events such as Gay Days. It seemed like it was another attempt to scold Disney for its acceptance of homosexuality than really expose drinking and sex amongst teenagers.

When I was in CP ten years ago this came out. Really blown out of portion. My roommate and I did go and get the Playboy/Penthouse article so that we could be put it in our scrapbooks and have a good laugh. I know things have changed somewhat because so many for students are now employed and not in one apt complex anymore. Believe me just your general college student activities did occur.

The expose is supposed to be in Radar Magazine. I believe it comes out this week.

Where do you think CM's come from? It's a little known fact that under the kennels at WDW (kind of like utilidors), there are secret nurseries. Did you ever notice you rarely see any pregnant CM's? Just when they're about to "show", Disney "relocates" them to these underground bunkers until they give birth. Then, for the next 16 years, the baby CM's are raised in that special Disney way, to become CM's of the future.

Until that time, Disney has ways of keeping them busy. Who do you think was actually making all that Disney merchandise, anyway? Gotta keep costs down!
