Explosion

What a shock. I hope everyone is okay.

according to the news reports, no one was killed, which is just amazing..
last i heard they said 36 injured, 4 seriously....amazing...

Wow that is just a miracle. Absolutely amazing. It could have been so much worse if it had happened during the week.

It sounds really bad ~ Hope there are no casualties :grouphug:

I was watching this on Sky news at 8am this morning, how frightening for all concerned. I do hope everybody is ok.

We are over in Barnet and we heard the explosion this morning. Smoke had reached Finchley this morning when we were out shopping. We too noticed the queues at the petrol stations.

Just to confirm the sheer force of the blast - it woke us up at 6am (heard two loud bangs about half a second apart), our house shook for another second or so and then car alarms in our street started going off.

All this and we live 14 miles away from the site - so my thoughts really are with Laura and all those who live much closer than we do.

Glad to hear nobody has died and also that it is most likely an accident and not a terror attack.

Im just so thankful that it was on a sunday morning and not a weekday as even at 6am the industrial area can be busy!

Although i do a have a wonderfully horrible coloured bruise on my leg now!

my dad (who lives in Hemel hempstead - about 1 mile from the explosion) called to say that he was ok at 9.15am..

He managed to sleep right through the explosion! and was only woken when someone rang him to check he was ok!!

thank god he is safe.. and everyone seems to be ok.. with only a few injuries.

Still, its jolly scary..

That must be a deep sleep as they are saying they could hear it in Bristol!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl: I agree.. we had a giggle about it!! Mind you he is old! And his snoring was probably louder than the explosion!!!!

I'm in stevenage and we felt it here but the really bad news is my grandad's warehouse (tons of christmas stock for Argos, catalogues) is next door to the oil depot and judging by the news he may not have much of a warehouse left. he can't even get near to it to check it out. laura, you probably work in the same industrial estate as my family from the sounds of it. Hope there aren't too many kids without their Xmas pressies next week :guilty:

Will let you know when we see the damage,

Claire xx

Oh Claire

Doesn't sound good especially at this time of year:( It must be even more frustrating not to be able to see how bad things are

Keep us informed :)

Flippin eck ~ You were lucky you never made it to work. Glad your work colleagues were unhurt.

you must have been terrified. We were on holiday in orlando and it was mentioned on the news. When we arrived back in england we passed the area and it was still burning. My mum who had been house sitting said the blast had shook the house and woken her up. She thought it was a bomb(there had been rumours that a bomb had been planted in milton keynes) we live in milton keynes.
Anne. :(
