Exploring monorail resorts

Planning a November trip and our airplane tickets to go home aren't until 8:00 p.m. but I don't want to do the parks that day. I have a 10:55 a.m. Chef Mickey's breakfast planned and was then thinking about exploring the monorail resorts and taking it easy. What are some "must sees"???

Depending on what part of November, if the Christmas decorations are up, that makes for some easy and fun exploring, particularly at Contemporary and GF (and also if you can get over to the BC/YC area fairly easily, which you could do via bus from MK). Lots of giant gingerbread creations to see (house, tree, carousel).

If you haven't already utilized boats for transportation at that point, it might also be fun to hop on a boat at MK and travel over to Wilderness Lodge or Ft. Wilderness just to see a little more of the property.

It will be Nov. 10 - not sure if Christmas decorations would be up? Taking the boat sounds fun!

is worth seeing with or without the Christmas decorations. It is heavily influenced by the national park lodges of the Pacific Northwest.

Chef Mickey's at that time is great. The crowds are dying down and the character interaction is great.

Yes - check out the wilderness lodge. you can easily take a boat there from the contemporary, and it's worth seeing, even if the decorations aren't up yet. I think they also offer a tour of the resort that is free, but I've never done it.

The Grand Floridian is also beautiful, and would be fun to stroll around. I would usually recommend the Poly, but I think the construction might not make this as spectacular as it normal. It wouldn't hurt to check it out though.

Agreed, though I think they do have Christmas stuff out before Thanksgiving, but not sure if that early.

At WL, be sure to walk over to the WL Villas "lobby", on the grounds of WL. It's not a staffed lobby, but there are some things to see in there.

FW is accessible by the same boat from Contemporary that brings you to WL. It's worth a stop, IMO.

You could take the boat back to Contemporary and then board the monorail to view the other monorail resorts. I don't know if Poly's DVC and lobby construction will be completed by then, but it might be a nice place to look around regardless. If you have time and are not too full from Chef Mickey's, I highly recommend Kona Cafe for a relatively quick meal. Then you can walk or monorail over to GF and look around there.

As long as you're riding the monorail and/or boats at a time other than around MK opening or closing times, all this should be pretty easy to do.
