Is this correct ...

I can book now and pay no deposit. Cancel up to 72 hours prior to arrival without a penalty. Pay full amount of stay on arrival at hotel??

Or am I reading this wrong?...

yep, that sounds right to me, are you looking on the Explorers website? Other sites, like benotel for example, also offer this service (fully cancellable, or pay when you arrive and fully cancellable). They might be a little cheaper?

Yeah i was reading the Explorers own website. Didn't think any of the hotels let you book without a deposit or anything...so that's pretty good huh?!

I'll go check out the other site you mentioned to see what prices they give - thanks Elaine!

Kyriad also has one rate type on offer that allows that.

They don't have my dates up for next year yet.....so couldn't check the prices out. I'll have to check back again soon and see what they come up with to compare.

Vala, I've not looked at the Kyriad so i'll have to check that one out. Thanks :thumbsup2

The only time we ever paid in full for the Explorers was when we booked through Expedia. Whenever we've used Benotel we've paid when we've arrived and have even cancelled (without penalty) and rebooked for the same dates when the price reduced one year.

We booked rooms on fully cancellable rates for both last year's and this August's trips then cancelled them later - last year it was the Explorers and this year we booked the Kyriad because the rate was so good there. We do this when we book our flights just in case we don't end up getting a good deal with Disney - if we do then we cancel, but if not then we'd stick with the offsite deal and I'd then be looking to see if I could get a better non-cancellable rate!

I'm planning on doing the same. I've booked the Explorers for next July and if a better deal doesn't come up between now and then i'll keep with it. I always book my flights a year in advance to get the best deal I can so I prefer to have something lined up hotel wise too - so this will be a great way! I didn't know Explorers let you do this until I read it yesterday.

I take it you've never had any problems with cleanliness at the Explorers? I'm not really fussed about the hotel i'm in at disney or how standard it is as long as the room is clean and it's pretty close to the parks. On previous trips we have left the hotel early after breakfast and don't return until bed time...because of this it just seems pretty pointless to pay really high prices like we've done so far.

Never had a problem, it's always been very clean and comfortable. I'd have no hesitation staying there again, even without children.

The staff are very good too. One time we opened the drawers to unpack and the bottom one was broken. We didn't need it as there is ample storage especially if you have a crew room for 6 but we reported it at reception on our way to the park (probably about 3pm as we'd come by Eurostar) as we didn't want them blaming us for it. When we returned back from the park that evening the drawer had been mended. :thumbsup2

Another time our car didn't turn up to take us back to the airport. DH checked there hadn't been a message left at reception and the receptionist insisted on phoning through to the shuttle company for us. Fortunately it turned out that the driver had got the wrong hotel and he was waiting at the DLH - it must have been all that wishful thinking on my part that had got tranferred to him! :rotfl:

 must have been!

Glad to hear everythings been good for you at the hotel so far. I'm looking forward to trying something new! I'm just hoping the kids don't get too attached to their pool ( it looks pretty good from the pics i've seen).... or it might be hard getting them to the parks each day - not good! :rotfl:

Wow! I'd never heard of Benotel - that is brilliant that they allow you to pay when you arrive and cancel without penalty.:cool1: Thank you so much!:thumbsup2 Just had a look at the website; is there a way to check pricing of rooms without putting in all your information?? thanks:wave2:

Yes, just click on rates (near the top of the page) and it will let you look at the rates for each day a month at a time.
