Both hotels are fine to stay in, it really depends what you want from your hotel :).

The Dream Castle is better, in my opinion, for couples, or families with older children. The reason I'm saying this is the room furnishings are nicer, the bathrooms are bigger with premium brand toiletries etc, and the breakfast includes hot items free of charge.

If you have young children, in my opinion the Explorers is the way to go, it has a fabulous themed swimming pool with one whole corner of it dedicated to a water-play pirate ship, plus it has a large indoor soft-play area.

The location is the same for both, and they are both served by the same free shuttle bus to and from the parks.

You don't get hot items at breakfast at the Explorers unless you pay extra for it, and you aren't seated by a waiter in the restaurant at breakfast at the Explorers (you are at the Dream Castle and Magic Circus).

Oooh this is very nice to know as me and DH are booked into the Dream Castle and we were in two minds about Explorers so am v happy with the decision we made. And I do like to be seated by a waiter / waitress when on holiday - makes you feel that little bit more extra special :)

You mention they both share the same free shuttle bus -- do you happen to know the shuttle bus route, ie. where Dream Castle is on the pick up and take to DLP route?

if the shuttles are serving all 4 hotels, then the Explorers is first pickup/dropoff, then the Kyriad, then the Magic Circus, then the Dream Castle (but I might have that the wrong way round, it might be Dream Castle then Magic Circus).

However, at certain times of the day (when we were there last it was from 8.30am until noon) one shuttle serves 2 hotels only instead of 4 (so Dream Castle and Magic Circus are paired, and then Kyriad and Explorers are paired). They still leave and arrive every 20 minutes or so from each hotel though.

And if you're feeling energetic, you can have a lovely walk from the Dream Castle through all of the Disney Hotels to the park entrance. We did it every day we were there and it was lovely (always took the bus back on the night though!!)

We've often walked back as well, especially if we're already in the Village or needed to walk off a large meal. ;) It only takes 25 minutes if you're in the Village.
