I am waitlisted for one day at the end our our weekend get away to HHI. I broke down today when I called to check on our waitlist and went with the cash ressie, but still waiting on wait list. So how can they have cash studios available, but no studios for points. If it is a DVC property, isn't that studio DVC's? I am confused, if it available why can't I have it on points? Seems silly. Could someone explain, please.

The inventory for cash reservations is separate, generally, from that for member points reservations. Cash reservation rooms are either from developer inventory or due to a member exchanging outside the system and are not available to reserve using points.

There are separate inventories of rooms - so many are for DVC, so many are kept to rent for cash. And never the twain shall meet....

Most of the rooms that are available for cash come from members who exchanged their points for something besides a DVC resort. DVC has to rent out the nights that were "exchanged" to get the money to pay for the member's non-DVC choice.

So in essence, we need to think of those cash nights as "already used by a DVC member". Hope your waitlist comes through.

Best wishes-

Actually, 60 days out CRO can access all unbooked rooms in the DVC inventory. But not vice-versa.
Thanks - that's good to know!!
