We are taking our first cruise in March. In one thread it mentioned door magnets and FE's. What is this?

Congrats on your first cruise. If you search for FE and magnets you will see lots of threads explaining in more detail. Basically, people decorate their stateroom doors with magnets and other decorations. FE is the fish extender exchange (There is a fish outside each staterooom door where guest services and others will drop mail off at your stateroom)...basically same as a secret Santa where fellow cruisers drop goodies off at your stateroom during the cruise, and you do the same. Both are a lot of fun. We have decorated our staterooom doors on many cruises, but just did our first FE, and it was my 11th Disney Cruise. Be sure to check oout the meet thread and meet your fellow cruisers before you go. Have a wonderful cruise!

2 of the gifts we gave out on our recent cruise are pictured below-the adult gift and the girl gift. We also have a pillowcase signed by the characters (drop pillowcase and fabric markers at guest services at the start of your cruise). Others take photo mats or other items that they would like character autographs on. This makes for a great souvie from your trip. The pics you see on our tshirts, can coozies, pillowcases, etc, we also had printed onto magnets for our stateroom door.

Hi there!! Firstly, let me say, you are in for a treat!!! You probably already know that!!!

The magnets that DISers are referring to are pictures that you put magnets on and decorate your stateroom door. If you search "Show your door" on this board, you will find pics of many peoples doors. You can get designs on the Creative board here on the DIS, or design your own.

The FE "game" is when you join with a group of DISers and bring/get treats during the cruise dropped into a fabric Fish Extender with pockets. You can see a pic of a FE by searching picture of FE on the boards, too.

We did both on our 1st cruise and will be doing it again next year. Lots of fun!! My kids enjoyed decorating our door, delivering the treats and finding treats in our FE.

    Hope this helps!!

there are so many great doors on the ships. look around and get some ideas and have a great time. DO NOT use tape on the doors as it will peel the paint and you will be charged for damages. Stick with magnets.
