I have seen a perk of valet parking mentioned here on the DIS, but I haven't noticed anything about it in the paperwork or on the DVC member site. How does it work? Is it only available at the DVC resorts, or is it available at places like the Polynesian or Contemporary too? Do you need to be staying on points to use it? Thanks in advance for any details about this. :)

Here's the description from the DVC Web site: "Valet parking is complimentary at Disney's BoardWalk Resort, Disney's Wilderness Lodge, and Disney's Beach Club Resort. Just show your Disney Vacation Club Member ID Card. Complimentary valet parking is not available at other valet parking operations or for Theme Park access.

You'll be charged the daily fee of $10.00 for this service at any other valet parking operation at the Walt Disney World Resort. Once you've paid for the valet service, you'll receive unlimited valet parking for the remainder of the day. Whether or not you are charged to valet park, gratuities are still appropriate. There will be no charge for Guests with disabilities who have the proper permits."

Thanks for the info! I wonder if they'll extend the free valet perk to Animal Kingdom Villas as well.

Yes they have, we used it no problems in October when visiting Boma's for breakfast.

Recently, one member on the DIS stated that they were not allowed to valet park for free while they were staying at a non-DVC resort when they tried to valet park at a DVC resort.

ON A SEMI-RELATED NOTE.... We will be taking our first DVC trip in January and I have a question about parking at the parks. We like to drive to the parks vs. using the buses, to save time, since we usually go in the off season. Do we get free parking at the theme parks, like when you are a Resort guest? If not, what does parking cost? Any disounts? Any alternatives (AAA, etc)?

When you stay at a DVC resort, on points or cash, you ARE a Disney resort guest. You'll get all of the same perks: free parking at the theme parks, access to EMH and DME, charging back to your room, etc.

What Lynn M said is 100% correct. As an alternative you mentioned AAA...they have a great parking perk if you are plannaing on using them for any arrangements or tickets. They have something called (I think) Preferred Parking which will allow you to park in a reserved section closer to the park entrances. We really liked it during the days we didn't get to the parks right away in the morning. We used this in addition to the DVC parking perk. We received the parking passes at our local AAA office when I bought park tickets for my parents.

Only at the resorts which have DVC villas, but...

On our most recent visit, we ate dinner at California Grill at the Contemp. The valet guy saw our parking permit from BCV and asked if the BCV valets had given me a "card" or "ticket" to use elsewhere. He said if I was paying for valet parking at one resort (and he considered getting it free as a DVC points guest the same as paying), the other resorts were supposed to honor the valet ticket.

We had no ticket or card, but he valeted us free anyway. He did ask to see our DVC card.

I thought we weren't supposed to get free valet at CR, but we did, in fact, get it. Like everything else Disney, it probably depends on which CM you get at that particular time.

Well, I was at AS MUsic first week november, and did valet at BCV free 2 nights. They asked if I was DVC or DDE, and never did ask to see my card.

The DDE card gets you free valet at any Disney resort.

DVC members are supposed to only get free valet at resorts which have DVC villas attached (BWV, BCV, AKV, and VWL).

We've gotten free valet at GF with the DDE card and the Contemporary with the DVC card, but in both instances we were asked to present the cards. (However, when we stayed at BCV, they only asked if we were DVC, and did not ask for our card.) It obviously varies from CM to CM.

DDE free valet parking is only for a time limit, normally 3 hours if I recall correctly. They could require proof of restaurant attendance if they wanted.

We will be using our points at BCV and inviting some friends to stay with us. They will be driving. Are they allowed to valet park as well because they will be staying with DVC members on DVC points?

Probably not for free, they need to show the DVC Blue member card. they are welcome to valet park, but it will probably cost them.
