Explain Disney Early Magic Morning 7:45-9?

I was considering going to Magic Kingdom but wasn't going to buy the extra pass that is 7:45-9 am and includes admission to Fantasyland plus buffet. If I go on that day at 9am, is that going to be an issue getting fastpasses since they will have already gone earlier? Will the lines be much worse? It is weird because it is the lowest crowd level for my visit and is recommended by Touring Plans. but just find it weird.

You should get fp as soon as you buy tickets, don't wait until day of unless you have to buy tickets day of.
Remember you can enter Main Street USA at 8 am and shop or walk or grab something from Starbucks, then at 9 am they open all the lands, crowds won't really be that much higher than usual unless it's a holiday or Spring Break

Historically EMM has not impacted crowds much.

That ticket was the best $90 per person we ever spent. We were done with all the rides in FL before anyone else even got into the park. We had breakfast at 10am, and it was much better than expected.

Part of it is that we are coming from the West Coast so not interested in getting up that early and partly we are going to MK 2 days anyway plus not interested in paying the extra. If I had young kids I would definitely consider it.

My main thought is that if we have 3 FP reserved and we walk in and try to go to say Space Mountain at rope drop, all those people who were there 7:45-9 would go to all those places first and we would be way behind for anything we want to get on. Seems weird that it doesn't effect crowds but Touring Plans seems to think it is a good day for us...

Can they get FP for earlier times like 7:45-9 or are all the FP start at 9am at the main opening?

Fp starts at 9am. You can rope drop the popular attractions and use your 3 fp

We did EMM in Fantasyland at the end of May 2019. From what we saw, there was a relatively small number of people that went to Space Mountain from the event once rope drop hit at 9am. The vast majority going to Space Mountain was the wave of people just entering the park. I’m sure the EMM people didn’t impact wait times more than 5-10 minutes absolute max for that ride at rope drop.

It’s just a couple hundred people, less than 1% of the day’s attendance. Very different from other early entry things Disney does. Even if they all went to Space Mountain, it would be a 15 minute wait.

Touring Plans measures crowd levels by wait times between 11 and 5, so marginally longer morning lines wouldn’t impact their crowd calendar at all. But again it’s so few people it won’t really impact anything anyway. Most of them go eat breakfast when the park opens.

Extra Morning Magic FL is worth getting up early so long as all the rides are running. I did it in January two years ago and it was not good as two of three main attractions went down during the event. Still, it is a very limited number of people and doesn't significantly effect rope drop strategies if you're not doing it. If you do it, then you've already done 7DMT, PP, and Pooh, and can turn your attention to other headliners like Jungle Cruise, Pirates, SM, and HM while thousands make a beeline to FL for 7DMT.

EMM is worth it if it's in your budget and want to get a jump on your day. It also frees up your FP selection to use on other attractions since two of the most popular rides are included. You can easily also hit Space Mountain at rope drop when the rest of the park opens and then head to the breakfast.

That said, if you are not interested in EMM, then you do not have to worry about crowds. As others have said, they do not significantly impact attendance as it's very limited. They do not get any FP during that time (limited attendance means no need for FP). They have no additional advantage to FP during the rest of the time park is open. Make sure to know which FP's you want, have backups, and schedule them as soon as your booking window opens.

Are you staying on-site (Disney owned resorts like Art of Animation, All stars, Port Orleans, etc.) or off-site? This matters as to when you can get your FP as on-site hotels (and Disney Springs Area hotels) you can book 60-days in advance & off-site is 30 days.

Agreed! We rode Seven Dwarves 7 times in a row, rode everything else in FL, ate breakfast, and then enjoyed shortish lines for the other rides. Well worth the money IMO. And I agree, the breakfast was better than expected...honestly on par with most of the buffet breakfasts we have had on property.
