Expiring points question.

I am hoping to be the owner soon of a contract with loaded points. I am in the daydreaming of how to spend those points phase. My question is: Does the trip have to be over before the points expire? Say the points expire on May 31 but my trip dates are May 28-June 3. Could you use all those May 31 expiring points for that trip since you started it before they expired or no? Would we need to use the coming years points for June 1 and 2?

I don't plan to attempt to cut it this close in the future....again just trying to figure out how to spend these extra points. (they are 2013 so I cant bank them)

If the points expire on 5/31, they must be used for a reservation with a check-out date on or before 6/1.

You have to complete the trip before the date of expriation.
In your example the trip would have to end on June 1st. I would be assuming in your example that you have a June UY.

Yes...June UY. I'll figure something out! (well I need to pass ROFR first...then I will. *fingers crossed*).

yeah, "use year" is about when you "use" the pts for a stay. UY has nothing to do with when you call to book.

so don't make the mistake of assuming you cannot book something until your UY starts. (or, as noted here, don't hope that you're ok as long as you book something within your UY.) it's all about the dates of your stay.

That is an option I am considering! Although I might just use them earlier in the year, too!

Just wanted to be sure I understood UY. Since Disney will often "honor" discounts/promotions as long as you check in before it ends. I realize DVC is different and just have new rules to learn.
