We are planning a trip with out closest friends. There will be 4 adults and one two year old. My friend is a teacher and can only go during her Spring Break. Are we crazy for going in April? Any and all opinions, please!

We went in April 99 and April 00.

April 99 was after Easter (our Spring Break was late that year) and it wasn't crowded at all . . .very nice . . .

April 00 was Easter Week and it was VERY crowded, but it was also the Millennium Celebration as well so that might of been why it was really packed.

Going in April is wonderful! Both trips were in the low 80's, low humidity and we didn't get any rain.

We haven't gotten around to going back in April yet though. We have been going during Value/Regular Seasons and it is a big difference in cost for us. April was PEAK season when we went those two times and it was very expensive.

You know, I've been asking myself that question lots & lots lately....

What time of year to go???

However, what I've learned as a repeat visitor, any time of year is good for ME.

I can walk around all four parks and find every attraction without a map. I know the shortcuts through stores and hidden little pathways to avoid the crowds.

If there is something new I want to see without waiting in a long line, I make sure I'm there to see it at rope drop.

I don't worry about seeing "everything" each trip.

We successfully took a pair of friends that had never been to WDW before during Easter week and they were perfectly happy to follow where I led and we saw an incredible amount of attractions in 4 days.

So, I guess my recommendation for April is if you have an experienced person in the group and the rest of the group is willing to follow, then yes, April is a great time to go.

If not, April is still a great time to go, but the group will have to lower its expectations as far as how much you'll be able to see. However, quality is often far more important than quantity.

Do your research, read about the attractions and decide what you really want to see. Make those a "must do" first thing each morning, then the rest will be gravy!!

We went April, 2001 for our first trip. Although we only had 3 1/2 days in the parks, (went on a cruise as well, plus lost a day due to airline problems) we got A LOT done. The weather was beautiful, and although the crowds were heavy, we planned enough that I felt like I knew the parks without ever having been in them. ;) :) We used the Unofficial Guide touring plans, and they worked perfectly. Later in the afternoon we saw lines of 60-90 minutes for some attractions, but we waited no more than 20 I believe. :) Just carefully plan, be there at opening for the parks, and you will be fine.

Well I've never been in April, but I'll be going this year. The week before Easter, leaving Easter Monday. I guess I look at it one of two ways: If it were really really really bad, then no one would go and we know that is NOT the case,and/or it's like childbirth, there are many families with more than one kid, lol.

We've been in April 2002 and this past April 2003 (both school vacation)

The weather was just perfect. As far as the crowds go, yes it was crowded, but we made the best of it and whatever we didn't get to see goes on our list for next time.

We spent alot of time at our resort (offsite) which had many amenities, spent a day at Typhoon Lagoon (LOVED this place) and visited the boardwalk, went to MK one night for the fireworks and AK earlier that day.

I think it was bearable and will always go in April :D

I went the first week in April this year. I didn't think the crowds were bad at all. This was 2 weeks before Easter. I'm sure the crowds showed up later in the month.
