We have an ealy ADR for California Grill (5:30) We have never dined here. I was looking at the menu and saw it is served by course...can we skip the first course and go girectly to the Main? Also, we plan on ordering an app, sushi and dessert. If we wanted to share a filet is that frowned upon here? Will it take 2 hours since we are arriving so early? Since we are dining with children we want to move things along in a timely fashion if that is even possible at this restaurant. Thank you for any advice and insight.

You don't have to order every course.

About sharing - probably it's OK but I don't know for sure.

There won't be a bit of trouble in ordering exactly what you want. Only one time at CG did it take us 2 hours, but we had 1st and 2nd course, plus a cheese course, plus dessert, plus stopped to go out and watch the fireworks. Our other meals there have been quicker, in the 60-90 minute range, depending on how quickly we wanted to eat.

You can get what you want. My in-laws always share entreees and there's no problem with that, although they might charge a nominal fee. I don't think they do, but they might.

Order what you want when you want. Explain to your server your family's dining preferences, and your timing needs. They will happily take care of it. Also, if things implode on you, just let your server know and they can bump up firing your meals and set them up to go.

Have a great meal.

I can see how you might think that from the menu, but actually the meals aren't served by "course", but only by what you order. So skip anything you don't want and just order the app, sushi and dessert as you plan. And getting there that early SHOULD ensure seating on time and geting out under the usual hour and a half to two hours it takes us!!

We eat at CG every year. My kids love it!! The meal does take about 2 hours but the time goes by quickly since the view is great. And the staff is one of the best.

If you're bringing kids to CG, be sure to order them the Crisped Rice Sushi Plate for dessert! :thumbsup2
My boys (7yo twins) absolutley PANICKED when they heard me order it...after all, they saw my Deluxe Sushi Platter entree that I had for my main course, and they weren't too thrilled!;)
But when they received those rice krispy treats covered in fruit roll-ups, they were overjoyed!!:yay:
