Experiences with Atlantis resort? Want to share?

Hi all-
I just saw a Travel Channel show on Carribbean resorts. They rated Atlantis very highly for families. The footage they showed looked a lot like Castaway Key's family beach plus lots of other cool stuff. I would love to hear your experiences!

We haven't but some neighbors go every February and love it. I think they've gone the last four years or so with their kids and they all have a blast. This year their dd brought back some sand for my dd's!

I think it looks like a great place to go with a family.

My daughter (20) went for a week last summer. She fell in love with it!! They took a water taxi into Nassau one day but I think if she went back she wouldn't even do that. She would spend all her time at the resort. She can't wait to go back.

My vacation dollars may end up here instead of Disney next year!

I know someone locally who owns a hotel that had the same name (before Atlantis was built). They were approached with a settlement to use the name and one thing they got was the right to stay there 3 weeks yearly! They love it, luckily!

I'm sure you know it's no longer on the DVC exchange list either for CC or World Passport.

I did hear that Atlantis is off the exchange list. I wonder why? Anyway- we may need to actually cough up the dough and go there anyhow. I know there are folks who do it as an excursion from the 4 day DVC cruise. That could work too...

It was off the WP list due to lack of exchanges which was short sighted IMO. The resort was new and was closed for about 5 months due to repairs, so no doubt the members there were going to use most or all the inventory. What was left likely went to Starwood and never to II. That would have changed in 2-3 years. Maybe they'll add it back at some point, they indicated they might but we'll see. As for the reason it was not actually truly added to the CC is unknown to me. My guess, for what it's worth, is they couldn't agree on a price. Pitty, I had a bet it would come in at over 100 points per night for some of the nights.
