Experiences with AKL buses needed

How's the bus system at AKL...especially in Oct. Long waits, crowded buses??? Any experiences welcome.

I was at Jambo in late Nov and then at Kidani a week later. Both times for just a night or two. We had bus issues only once or twice..once leaving Kidani in the morning. The bus stops were all put into one area...the old DME area..since they were working on the park bus stops. Made for a ton of people, all crowded into one smallish area. Add to that the fact that the DHS bus took forever to get to us.
Then, that same night (it was a Sat night), we were leaving MK and it took 3 buses before we were able to get on one. And, we noticed this happening a lot for the AKL buses at park closing...but since we were at another resort by then, we didn't really care.
Now..to be fair, most of the resorts have longish waits for buses at the end of the day. Park closing is a very busy time for buses.

I'm headed back to Kidani for just a night in early Dec. I'm not overly concerned about the buses. They are fine overall.

When we were at AKL in Nov 2009, we never waited more than 10-15 minutes for a bus and for once, I don't think we every had to stand up. We don't often stay til closing but we did once and even then, it wasn't much of a wait at all. We LOVED it!!

The only issue we had with AKL bus system, was that the bus stop is down one story from the main entrance, so we have to walk up hill on the way back every day. It was pretty hard for my mom who has some issues with her legs and had to rent an ECV in the park. But this wouldn't be an issue for most people.

We were at AKL in April/May 2009 and had great service. Only long wait was for DTD bus, but in the middle of the day. 27 min wait and that is what we were prepared to expect for middle of the day DTD bus. Others were not bad at all. Longest ride was to MK and that was 16 mins because of stopping by bus supervisor of all busses that day for some reason. As others have said no real waits longer than 10 mins other than the DTD wait.

Sorry but I disagree with the previous posters. We just did a split stay four nights at AKL and four nights at CSR May 1st-9th. There was absolutely no comparison between the bus service at the two resorts. It seemed like no matter what time we got to the bus stop at AKL we had to wait forever for a bus and then frequently had to stand, because the bus had filled up over at Kidani Village. The bus service at CSR was wonderful in comparison as we never waited more than 5-10 minutes for a bus. AKL also seemed to be much further from the parks.
