Has anyone had any experience with being on an ABD waitlist?
I'm after the Southern Cal Backstage Magic for October 2014 and wondering how likely it is to become available. The dates were only released today but it's gone straight to waitlist...

There are two reasons a trip is listed as waitlist
1-A private group has it and if they can't fill it by a certain date (whatever their contract is with ABD) then it is opened up to others.

2-ABD is holding the date and if they get enough interest they will make the date available.

I have never heard of anyone who was on a waitlist get the a trip however most posters on this board book a date that is available.

Good Luck

I booked a trip today, but asked to be waitlisted for a date that isn't being offered yet. The rep told me that just because you are on the waitlist doesn't mean your reservation will be automatically moved to the date you want. You have to keep checking to see if that date is available (i.e. call every day).

I'm not sure what the point of the watilist is if it doesn't guarantee you a spot (if one is available). If I am #7 on the list and there is room for me to travel in the week I want, I won't get that spot if I don't keep calling each day.

We were wait listed for our Ecuador trip (Dec 2011), but got a call within a month that there were spots available for us. Good luck. I how you get the dates you want!

If you've not got booked already do you think this prevents the need to call every day?

I've had mixed messages on which of these reasons it is!

I really hope something comes up, as Oct is the only month we can do :(

ABD will contact me as soon as they have any information regarding this.

As your name is on the wait list...there is no need to call every day.

I am on the phone with ABD several times a day and I will check regularly.

Thanks Kevin, I know you've tried your best :)
