We have stayed on the 12th floor at Contemp but never the 14th floor. We are soo excited :goodvibes Can anyone post their experiences, please. Have these rooms been renovated?? We have 2 rooms ~ 1 a king brd and the other 2 Queens. My boys are going to be so thrilled they love the monorail and think its lives at the Contemp. SO they'll be soo excited to sleep where the monorail lives. WAHOOOO!!! :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

I just stayed this past summer. The rooms do need some work, but aren't horrific either. The proximity to MK and the service we got completely made up for the little bit of problems the room had. I have some pics of the 1 bdrm suite MK view if you wish to take a look.

The ladies in concierge told me the rehabbed rooms are going to be gorgeous. I'm holding out to return once they rehab is complete.

we were on the 14th floor concierge in the summer.....
the rooms and the hallway especially, were very long in the tooth...

we also thought the concierge CMs were not up to the quality of the CMs at the other concierges we've stayed at......

overall, this was the worst of our concierge experiences..

we also were in a one bedroom suite (facing the MK)....our bedroom connected to a regular guestroom (not our family...the connecting door was locked)...the room had a baby in it and so we were unfortunate to discover just how bad the soundproofing of that door is.....the baby woke up at least 5 times during the night and as a result so did yours truly (it was as if she was in the room with us)....
i was not a happy camper.....and certainly felt that for $1200/ night the soundproofing should be better than that...
we've never had a problem with soundproofin in all our stays at WDW, so i have to assume it's a problem with the building...

but i'm sure we're in the minority....i've seen others who've said they liked it...

Wow! Sorry your experience wasn't that magical. I hope there are some positive reviews out there..please?

We were very pleased with the level of service we got from the concierge staff. We were in a NS king, MK view, and the room was in good condition, no stains, rips, scratches or dents, although the bathroom, while clean, needed updating.

We stayed in an awful MK view one bedroom suite last Thanksgiving week. Ugh. What a disappointment. It completely turned me off the CR (and we were die hard CR fans - 2X/Yr for the past 13 yrs). My kids loved the CR, but my husband and I told them WE WOULD NOT stay there again until the rehab is completed.

We had stained, ripped dirty wallpaper, gross grunge in the bathrooms, lipstick on the walls, ceiling tiled caving in with dust and cobwebs hanging, peely "wood" furniture, threadbare arm rests on the chairs and sofas......OLD microwave in kitchenette (scary to use), NO stocked fridge as others have had, Hmm.....a VCR in the bedroom (come on! WHO brings VHS tapes! Good thing we had our portable DVD players and DH's laptop). I was absolutely underimpressed. And there were stains and wrinkles in the hall carpet, too. Yuck. The place was really showing poor maintenance & was very outdated. It was large and the extra space was nice, but it was an ugly suite.

Just my experience, but I am NOT exaggerating. It was shabby. For $1200/nt, I expected more. Sorry. I was especially disappointed as we have loved the CR for so long (I stayed there as a kid, too) and I had read such rave reviews of the 14th on this board. It was not happening for us.

I prefer the other Disney deluxes. GF is the best.

Lives4Disney - I think CR are addressing those issues with the rehab that's in progress. It's an older suite and I would have to agree they're not in perfect condition. I saw the shelf under the microwave was peeling and there was some wall paper peeling a bit behind one of the beds. I expected some age on these suites so I wasn't disappointed. The view and service we received far outweighed a few cosmetic items. They had just recently re-sealed the tub also. They would shampoo the carpets daily in the hallway so I only saw one stain. Poof it was gone the next morning. I thought housekeeping did a great job keeping us squeeky clean while we were visiting. I think once the rehab is done you're going to find they're going to have some gorgeous suites...you may want to give them another chance. Heck, I even had a pipe bust in our room on evening of my MIL's birthday. We enjoyed cake and presents while they were working on it. We just had to laugh at the situation. Yes, concierge was notified. Yes, concierge and I had another the laugh about it the next morning. :rotfl: I'm not off my rocker, promise. Wwwweeeellll, maybe I am. I'm going to make lemonade when dealt lemons. No matter if it kills me. :rotfl2:

Thank you so much for posting this! We are staying at the CR in December. Its my first time at Disney! The suite looks lovely though even if it hasn't been refurbished yet. I loved the pics from the balcony of the resorts and the castle. I had a question...did you tell them that it was your MIL's birthday? We will be celebrating my birthday when we are there. :goodvibes

Yes, I had advised them of my MIL's birthday. The planner that knew what was going on was no longer with Disney by the time I arrived in July. In fact, the planner had lost the tiaras I had made up in May. I had them sent over by BWI's concierge before heading home. This planner didn't have my cake on order like promised either. :earseek: The ladies in concierge got on the ball to get the tiaras and arrange for the cake with just 24 hours notice. The cake is pretty standard at the resort so it wasn't a problem. I was impressed with how they handled it. One of the girls in concierge did the tiaras and the turn down herself with the tiaras and invitations the evening before her birthday. I had requested this special turn down service and it was no problem. She just took it upon herself to make sure it was done the way they intended. Most definitely tell them at IPO your celebrating a birthday. I would also follow up with a phone call and reconfirmation once you arrive. That will teach me not to follow up closer to time of departure. I had a couple of things lost in the shuffle on this trip - safari reservations, etc. I think we must have been destined to have one of those vacations this go around. All my plans literally went down the tube on this trip and we had to wing it most of the time.

BTW, get yourself the birthday pin! I'm sure IPO can arrange for this.

I am glad you had a nice stay. It seems and maybe you had a better attitude about it than I. I have always loved the concierge cms at CR, but on this trip - Whoa! Major let down. There were some unfamiliar faces. Special things ordered & PAID FOR were not delivered - we basically had to plead with them to PLEASE find & deliver our items. :confused3 Got very bad advice regarding the timing of the MVMCP, didn't get any special check in, we were told to use the front desk, elevatored up to 14th by ourselves, ignored by the CM sitting at his desk as we passed, we found our room and were very disappointed. I think when you pay that much $$$$, the room & service should be great, not lacking. I live in a beautiful house - don't like to go on vacation and stay in a dumpy suite while paying lots of money for it. No fun! :earboy2: It was one of my worst (OK, THE WORST) WDW stays ever - and there have been about 30 GREAT ones!!! :wizard:

I am giving the CR another chance - actually we are staying Atrium Club for a few nights at the tail end of our BWI Thanksgiving trip this year. My kids just really miss that place. They have grown up there!! We will see.......I am less than thrilled, but I figure this trip will decide if we ever go back again. I really don't think my kids will be too excited about the new rooms. They don't look like they have too much kid appeal! ;)

Take care,

Lives4Disney - If memory serves me correctly, aren't the new atrium rooms rehabbed already? It's now full service as far as food offerings go also. I think you're going to loooovvvve it especially since this has been your family's favorite resort. If these room have been done, has anyone posted the pics of the new decor? I'd love to see them. The birdies in the lounge said the 14th floor are going to be the bomb when it's done so you're going to want to go baaaaccckkkkk. LOL! It sounds like your experience was less than stellar. I think it can happen anywhere. By no means does this excuse their behavior. I hope you passed it onto the manager so they can fix what needs to be fixed. I didn't check-in upstairs. I did go to the front desk and the gentlemen got all the paperwork done, rode up in the elevator with us, introduced me to ladies at the desk and took us to our room. We were the only ones checking in at the time so I wonder if our timing had something to do with it. He even hung out with us a bit checking out the view from the balcony (with our invite of course) and telling us to call if we need anything. I thought they were all personable, but I felt like I had to start the conversation to get the ball rolling. I think it's one of the concierges that keep a very "professional" feel. If you speak to them, they wake up as far as conversation goes. The lady that took care of us in mousekeeping was sweet as she could be, too. We ran into her almost every morning. I hope your trip coming up in November will knock your socks off. AKL is my home away from home so don't think I'm CR fanatic. I had some services boo-boo's at CR, too. I think their IPO needs some help from comparing notes with delivery experiences. I think I'm going to send a letter to that effect. When you get back, I'd love to hear how it went. ::yes::

VAgal - Thanks! Yes, I think we will have a great time in November. The 14th was just a BAD experience - just one among many really great ones staying other places and CR tower club. My kids are excited about it. They have not seen the new room decor, though...... ;) There were some pics posted a while back and maybe on allears??? They are very "Lost in Translation"ish - all modern, simple, and neutral colors. My kids are probably expecting the Jetsons, but we'll see! I am excited to be going back to our home away from home, but a bit leary! :earboy2: We knew concierge staff from our previous visits, but on this trip there were some that we have never seen before. They are usually great & friendly and helpful. Wonder if they have changed staff. I don't think Atrium Club is full service until Jan 2006, but that is fine for us. We aren't around too much for the daily food offerings, just bfast mostly.

Take care,

Thanks VAgal76! I will be sure to remind them. Adn get a pin! (where do I get one?) :sunny:

I just talked to my AAA TA yesterday actually and confirmed what type of room we are in. We have a "Garden Room" with a water view ??? BUT! she said that Disney told her that the section that we are in is under rehab now and is set to be completed before we check in! :cool1: So according to her I will be getting a rehabbed room. *crossing my fingers*!!
