We are going Sept 16-22nd 2007! Can anyone tell me what Disney is like that time of year and does anyone have any helpful hints for the Mickey Not so Scary Halloween Party!!

I was there this past 9/15-9/21. The down side was intense heat and intense love bugs:

No one could sit on the benches at the bus stops because of them.

Good news-10 minute stand by line for Soarin at 11:00am, or a FP return time of around noon (so I got to do Soarin twice in an hour). Rode Dumbo 3 X in a row without getting off at night, rode Pooh twice without getting off-no one waiting either time. I'd put up with the love bugs and go any September for those waits (or rather, lack of waits).
Sorry, didn't do MNSSHP, so I can't comment there.

I have been once in September. It was still pretty hot, but the crowds were nonexistant! I would go again at that time of year!:thumbsup2

I was at WDW this past September 9th-16th. The crowds were great! It rained a small amount in the afternoon on a few days. Temps were high 80s and I think we hit 90 once but I like it hot The love bugs showed up on the last couple of days and weren't bad yet. We also got free dining. :thumbsup2

My biggest worry was hurricanes. I suppose that can happen any time from May-November but I think September is the worst part of the season.

Will I go back again during September? I've already got a bounce back trip booked for September this year. :lmao:

Woo September!

DH and I made our first September trip last year and LOVED it!
We had mostly gone during cooler times of year (Jan and Dec to be exact) and we really enjoyed being there while it was warm.
The crowds were heaven! Minimal waits!
Another bonus is that so far every year for the past couple it's been free dining time! and my birthday is in September -- extra bonus for me to be in WDW on my birthday!
Just plan in some breaks with the heat, enjoy the waterparks, and you'll have a great time!
We already Booked our next September trip (free dining with the bounceback program) and we cannot wait!
As others have said, the lovebugs can be present, but i'll deal with them any day to have a trip like we had last september. BRING THEM ON!
We had a lot of fun at MNSSHP! The only downside to our day was that it chose to rain that night. I really enjoyed it though! (much more than I enjoyed the MVMCP) Yummy candy, light crowds, cool characters, fun fireworks! I'm definitely going to do that again this year.

We were there 9/16-9/21/06.

Crowds? Zippo. We went into Epcot via International Gateway the day we arrived and wondered briefly if it was open because we did not see any other guests til we got past Morocco. This was at about noon.

Love bugs? Everywhere. Annoying, but not that bad. They don't bite, they just annoy. A tip? They like light colors, wear dark. My son has a dark blue stroller and even when they were everywhere, not one landed on his stroller.

Heat? Oh yeah....it is toasty. I did pretty well though, and I am not a heat lover. Plus, it was 50 here at home when we left, so maybe it just felt hotter.

Cast members? Best of any trip we have ever taken. Because it is so much slower, they have time to chat and we loved it. Made a lot of nice aquaintances.

We enjoyed September so much that we have decided to make it our permanent 2nd yearly trip month! We will be there in 2007 from the 9th to the 18th, so maybe we will see you! :thumbsup2

Since September is the peak of hurricane season, make sure you either have travel insurance or flexible airline tickets/hotel reservations. This year we were lucky (like we have been most years) but the two prior years were not so good for September travel.

It's still very hot and humid, but I don't seem to mind so much because the lines are shorter so you spend more time inside. It will rain nearly every afternoon, so try to plan an indoor activity, such as a late lunch/early dinner or a hotel break, around 2-3pm.

The love bugs this year were the worst I've ever seen in 30 years in Florida. Usually there are just a few for a week or two and then they're gone. They don't hurt you in any way, but they can be annoying. Be more concerned about the mosquitos and bring repellant.

I've done a couple of September trips. The crowds aren't bad at all.

Yes, the love bugs can be bad. These are tiny little black bugs whose sole purpose in life is to fly and mate, walk and mate, eat and mate, sleep and mate, mate, and well, you get the picture. They can be bad but they are totally harmless. They are just doing bug things which is what they are supposed to do. Let them go about their business and you'll be fine.

That is hurricane season. One year, hurricane Floyd was going through and the airport was closing the day before we were scheduled to arrive. I called our carrier and they let me slide everything forward by one day. I didn't need travel insurance and most airlines are more than willing to work with you. If there is anything like a "best thing" about hurricanes, it's that you get plenty of notice that one is coming. You don't know exactly where it's going to make shore but you know it's out there.

September is great. We go for the second two weeks it sometimes rains but only for a short time. In 2003 we were driving to the airport in a large thunderstorm and that was VERY scary. Then again we have only ever been in september/october so can't compare. My choice is to keep going back at this time, I would hate to see it crowded.

We went 09/24-09/29 and had a great time. I can pretty much second what everyone said here...Our first two days the heat/humidity was pretty high, then for the rest of the trip the heat came down and it was actually pleasant. We had one day where it rained on and off, a couple times very hard. Again, it was managable and did not come close to "ruining" our vacation.
Crowds were an interesting thing. It seemed crowded everywhere we went (in the walkways, shows, etc) but when we went to go on a ride...all the waits were very short.
You will walk on, sit on, inhale, bump into, and flick off you literally trillions of Love Bugs.

All in all it was a good time to go. :thumbsup2

We were there sept 16-20 2006. We had a great trip. we went to the parks in the mornings and evenings and managed to miss most of the heat. Crowds were low, free dining was great, but I would not go again this time of year because of the love bugs. I will say I just hate bugs. The didn't do anything, but they drove me crazy. If you don't mind them...this would be a perfect time to go.

We went 9/17 - 9/25 and had a great time. Low crowds, free dining and the weather was still great for visiting the water parks. It was warm, but I'm from Texas so heat is not a problem for us. We went expecting to get rained on at least a little bit each day, but only experienced one rain shower as we were headed to the Grand Floridian for dinner.

It is considered value season and is the low season for crowds, but there are Love Bugs. We will be back from the 22nd to the 29th of Sept 2007. The Love Bugs can be annoying but they do not bite. The reduced crowds are great and it is still hot enough to get some pool time in during the afternoon break.
