Experienced runners, how many days a week do you run?

I have been doing the C25K program. I am up to 25 mins and 2 mile runs. I feel like I need to do more than 3 days a week that the program reccommends, but I don't want to over do it. Any suggestions?

You'll have better luck with this if you post on the events boards.

I run 4-5x/week. I was religiously running 5x/week, but it did a number on my IT bands, so once I scaled back to 4, it made a huge difference. I cross-train with bike and swim on my off days.

I am currently running 3x week, but on 6/1 we start our training program for the first half marathon we are doing in September. So then I will be running 5x week. (we are off Tues and Sat) On Tues night I will be doing a strength training class, and on Fri (my day off) I have a short run plus I will do the strength training class. Sunday is our long run day, and I will go to a beginner yoga in the afternoon to relax:rolleyes:

That schedule works (or at least I hope it will) for me, but only you can know how much is comfortable. Just increase slowly and in small increments. Or add in other exercise to supplement. If you start to have pains/discomfort then scale back.

Good luck to you!:thumbsup2

I do between 4-5 days a week with the 6th day being something else like strength training or aerobic class, etc as I am also working on losing my final 10lbs..

I try and not increase my time/distance more than 10% each week....

I've been a daily runner since August of last year, so I run every day. Now, some days it's slow, and only a couple of miles, but I have always managed to lace up and hit the treadmill, the road or the trail.

With that said - unless you have a pretty substantial base, I'd stick to three or four runs per week, and maybe some cross-training on the off days, if you really feel the need to exercise. Too much, too soon is a formula for injury.
