Experience with the Pop Century?

One thing I forgot to mention was phone calls! Do not make a long distance call from the room. I should have known better but I had taken ME while dh picked up the rental and drove from the airport. He made it no problem but once there was driving around trying to find Pop for over an hour. I made two quick calls to his cel to make sure he was okay. I would say less than a minute each time. What a surprise when we got our bill at the end of the week. I can't remember exactly but it was over $50. Ridiculous.

Any preference as to which "standard" building is the best? We have little kiddos if that counts. 70s sounds nice but is that preferred or standard? TIA!

1970's is not preferred. It is where we stayed, and probably where I would recommend you stay. 60's is the preferred section, with 50's and 70's being directly on either side of it. 80's and 90's are further from the pool.

I like 1970's becuase it was close to the Goofy water playground, which ds 23mo LOVED every night. The little kids all had such a great time, and I liked it becuase he could play for 15 minutes and I didnt have to get into a swimsuit just for him to get wet for a few minutes. The main pool and kiddie pool is in the 60's, which as I said is right 'next door' to the 70's.

We stayed in the 70s section as well. I would definately recommend it for those trying to stay close to everything without paying the preferred rate. It's close to the parking lot, bus stop, pool, playground AND food court/gift shop. I didn't call my preference in ahead of time and lucked out..got the only available room in the 70s section upon check in. HOWEVER, if you do get put in another section, the walk is really short from all the buildings. I'm about to book POP AGAIN!! I think we'll request a room in the 50s section.

We had a GREAT time at Pop last year. My 3yo loved the Goofy PopJets (splashpad) and the kiddie pool. The food court food was pretty blah, but it's quick and easy. I think all food courts are the same. We never had trouble finding a table and they have a huge bigscreen tv playing Disney stuff in one area. The bus service was great! We were trying to decide whether to move up to POFQ or go back to POP this year and we've decided on POP because 1) my son would miss the popjets/splashpad and 2) Pop doesn't share buses and POFQ has multiple stops.

Honestly, I wouldn't want to stay in the 60's building because that's where the biggest pool is and I'd think it would be quite loud. My son goes to bed very early, so we like it quiet. I'd say stay in 50's or 70's. We stayed in the 70's and really liked it. There's no pool in the 70's but it's a quick walk to the 60's pool.

My son also liked the arcade and the playground. And when all the employees stop what they're doing in the food court and all dance the hustle is pretty funny. My son's jaw dropped. He was entranced.

The kids will love the theming of the resort and they will also LOVE the pool. I think it is a good resort for families with small children. Have a nice vacation!

Just wanted to chime in on our Pop experience. We visited back in 2004 with me, DW, DS4 and my mom, dad, and sister. My mom had a broken foot at the time and they placed us in a 90's room. We went back to the front desk and requested something closer and we were given a ground floor 50's room closer to the main building.

We loved everything about the resort. We stayed in late May into early June. The bus lines were fine and the food court was good. We payed $69 per night during regular season on a Disney Visa special rate.

As a comparison....last year, we decided to try Port Orleans Riverside since I received a pin code and we could book at $79 per night during regular season. Again, we visited at the beginning of June 2005.

I requested Magnolia Bend in the mansions section...but, we were placed in the furthest part of that building away from the main building. It was a further walk than the 90's building to the Pop Century main building. I did notice a bus stop right across the parking lot...so, I figured at least we would be in good shape with the buses. Boy, was I wrong....

We were located near the East Depot....which happens to be the last stop after the buses stop at POFQ...then, 3 other stops in POR before finally getting to our East Depot location. Most mornings....several buses would pass us by because they were completely full. When we did catch a bus, it was always standing room only.

Overall...our impression was...."Let's go back to Pop Century!"

So...guess where we are going this June?

From what you've described I think you will enjoy Pop. It is a nice resort, and if you aren't going to be in the room much, it's perfect for your situation.
