For the first time, we managed to get a credit with SW. DH got 36.00 and I have 36.00 for a 72.00 total. When I use these do I only need the flight number to have them applied to a new booking? I'm assuming there is a place to enter the previous flight number and the credits will appear on the new reservation??

You need the confirmation number from the reservation from which you received the credit so be sure to save that information.

Credits (SW calls them Travel Funds) are tied to a particular person so you can use $36 when booking another reservation in your name and $36 when booking a reservation for your DH.

ETA: You have one year from the original purchase date to use these Travel Funds. To apply them to a new reservation, when you get to the payment screen you will have an option to apply travel funds. When you use Travel Funds as partial payment, any new money you mix in with the travel funds will inherit the earliest expiration date. So if you apply your $36 towards a new reservation and then add, say $100 of new money and then later cancel that flight, the entire $136 expires one year from that original reservation you repriced that resulted in the $36 in travel funds.

Thanks so much the the explanation. So, is it best to make two separate reservations vs doing one reservation in both our names? Our previous reservation had both of us one one, so we only had one confirmation number. Hope this is clear :)

Thanks so much. Our travel funds were issued under one reservation number (DH and I were booked together). I guess I am wondering if I book us together again and enter the old confirmation number will the 72.00 total automatically apply 36.00 to each of us? Hope this makes sense

Yes, you can book together. Then under travel funds, put in the confirmation number and name. Both of you will show up under the same confirmation number. Each will get the $36 credit.

I think what LisaS was trying to say is that book One ways rather than round trip. Use the credit for the flight there, then book the return separately. That ways if you cancel, the return flight credit won't expire as early. Hope that makes sense!

And credits can not be applied to the early bird checkin.

You can do this on line, but if you have problems, give them a call..(1-800-435-9792)... tell them you're having issues and they will do it for you and give the lowest internet prices.
Good Luck!...

Great suggestion! I was just warning the OP about potential issues when using travel funds plus new cash. I wasn't clever enough to come up with the solution. So glad you posted this as I have some travel funds to use and will be sure to book the trip as two one-way flights.
