Experience with numbing spray or cream?

When my daughter was younger she had bloodwork often and we were able to get a large tube of EMLA from a Canadian mail order pharmacy without a prescription. We would apply it about 30 minutes before the blood draw and then wrap her arm with Saran Wrap and it worked like a charm. The entire tube cost about $35 and lasted for years and years.

Off topic but you really don’t want to deal with a website that offers prescription medication without a prescription. It’s highly sketchy, illegal, and just dangerous all around.

My daughter is an adult now, so this was almost two decades ago, but it was our best option at the time. Our insurance refused to cover it and she’d become so anxious before blood draws that she’d make herself vomit. The cost for one application without insurance was about $75 at the time.

I would not have used the website for any medication she had to actually ingest, but felt it was a safe option for a topical medication. I tried it on my own arm when we received it. Of course, our choice may not be the best choice for everyone. YMMV

Again, I'm just curious and asking because I'm fairly sure you mentioned having worked at a call centre for an on-line pharmacy once-upon-a-time. Are they generally sketchy? Can people just call up and order drugs without prescriptions? I could imagine such a thing from places like Mexico (where antibiotics and narcotic pain meds are available over the counter) and I'd believe anything about call centres in India, but I'm startled it happens here. Also wondering if the entire on-line pharmacy industry is still a big thing here in Canada?

There are some sketchy ones but there are legit ones too. It is the law that you have to have a prescription. If you find a place that dispenses without one, RED FLAG. There are standards and guidelines that are strictly followed. If you just find some Mexico type place, they (and you) have no idea what’s actually in the medication. It’s not regulated at all. Also, if they’ll send you a six month supple? RED FLAG. The law is three months (that one is regulated by the FDA).

Ironically, the one where I worked has been **** down and is now under investigation for selling (possibly) a counterfeit. I was floored when this all came about (years after I left) because they seemed on the up and up. I know it’s 100% not my fault and was out of my control, but I feel bad for lying to customers when I was talking to them.
