Experience with Costco

Can't answer for regular cabins since we never look at those. When we search ADA and the system picks the cabin(since they are limited), that is when we've had the issue.
Thanks. Hopefully cabins don’t get locked for others if I go “shopping” when I’m not seriously looking to book.

Tack-on question - do you get both onboard credit and the shop card when booking through Costco. Or just the shop card? We’ve so far booked on our own, but I’m considering going through Costco for our next cruise.

Just the shop card from Costco - no onboard credit. Shop cards come pretty quickly after the cruise in my experience.

Shop cards are digital now and are always waiting for me after the cruise when I have internet and can check my emails.

I've done the "book a future cruise while onboard" and named Costco as my TA. When I did the cruise not only did I get the $1500 shop card (2 cabins for our family), but the onboard credit was still given to us as well :) We used the shop card for all the alcohol my daughter's wedding :)

DCL stopped giving the $100/$200 onboard credit that used to come with using a placeholder years ago. Now if you use Costco travel, you just get the extra perks that Costco gives.

KK, this was last year, so I wasn't aware it had changed. Thanks for the info :)

If I book a placeholder on my next cruise, then how do I do that with Costco?
You name Costco as your TA and then call Costco to have them book with your placeholder when you’re ready. You can also always book through Disney and then transfer to Costco as long as it’s within 30 days of booking and you haven’t yet paid in full.

Costco travel gives you a Costco card for 8% of the cruise fare. If you are an executive member, you get another 2% back. If you pay with the Costco citi visa, it is another 3% back. Adds up quickly. Sailed last week and booked thru Costco travel. Cruise fare was $5000. Received around $650 back from Costco.
Hmmm, that is very generous, had no idea as no a member & closest location a couple of exits away on turnpike. Might be worth it to join as military as I see a discount offer for new members.

Is the GC on the total price of cruise?

does executive membership get any sort of “better” travel deals than regular membership members (other than the extra 2%)?

The GC is on “cruise fare.” So the cost minus taxes, port fees, and gratuities. Aside from the 2%, no other extra perks for exec. Depending on cost of cruise, that 2% might pay for the difference between regular and exec membership ($70 I think now?). You get 2% on all Costco purchases , aside from gas I believe

No better travel deals with executive. But I do want to mention that you have to be a member at the time you purchase the cruise, when you take the cruise, and when you are waiting for the GC to arrive. If you cancel your membership anywhere in there, you won't get the benefits.

Glad you mentioned that!

Not sure if they still offer good rates on rental cars or not.

Did read reviews they often offer perks on RCCL cruises such as free speciality dinners etc.

A few times a year we'll use Costco for rental car discounts. Some are quite good, some don't make it worth it to book with them, but I usually check. Just booked one recently where we saved a few 100 $s through them.

When you’re looking at the Costco travel site, look for cruises marked Kirkland Signature. Those are the ones that come with extra benefits. I have for sure seen them offer these with some Holland America, Royal Caribbean, and Carnival cruises. Don’t think I’ve ever seen one on a Disney cruise though!
