I have known so many people who decide to go to Disney and just go to the parks and water parks. If you do this, you are only getting half of the Disney experience. You need to visit all of the resorts, because each one of them has a completely different feel to it. It is like going to the Magic Kingdom and going to all of the different lands, FronteirLand, FantasyLand, ToonTown, and so-on. Look at it this way. WDW is just an extremely large Magic Kingdom. The parks are just a few of the different lands in WDW, but the resorts make up all of the rest. I don't know anybody who hasn't gone to all of the lands in the Magic Kingdom, so why shouldn't you go to all of the lands that WDW has to offer?

If you rent a car or drove down yourself, it is very easy to visit the resorts. All you need to do is drive yourself to a resort and show the guard at the front gate your Disney roomkey. Now, you have full access to that resort. Spend an hour or so there, and then move onto the next resort. It is a great experience for everybody. Sure, there are no thrill rides, or even rides at all, but it is an experience you will never forget. Experiencing the magic Disney has to offer is incredible.

We strictly use Disney transportation once we arrive, but you can still enjoy the resorts by booking PSs at their unique eateries. Sometimes, the method of Disney transport to the resort is a reward itself. (go to CBR and take the boat to DD)

It gives you an excellent first look at the resort, and then you can spend time walking around, even shopping for unique items at their gift shops. After one Ohana in July, we stumbled upon an art showing in the gallery at the Poly. Beautifully stunning glass sculptures and paintings with a beach-ocean theme.
Certainly another layer of what you can find "below the surface" at WDW! :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

I agree that it is great fun enjoying what the various resorts have to offer. We get great decorating and landscaping ideas. It has become a tradition to have Tonga Toast at the Poly on every WDW visit, and more recently we have made Breakfast at Boma's at AKL a tradition. It works well as both breakfast and lunch, it's so filling, especially if you go toward the end of the breakfast seating period. We generally do not stay "on property" but it has never been a problem to get a temporary pass to come for a few hours and eat or shop the gift stores.

I think you may have typed the wrong resort accidentally, there is no boat from CBR to DD. You can rent boats at CBR for use on BB, but CBR doesn't actually have boats to anywhere. (I wish they did) PO has them I believe and I think they only go to DD.

Since we've gotten seasonal passes last December, we've been going a lot more. I've really gotten into the going to different resorts and eating kick. It's been a lot of fun, and some good eats too.

I agree, after having done the parks dozens of times, we spend most of ou time at the resorts.

There is a whole other world besides the theme parks. Downtown Disney has Disney Quest, Pleasure Island, and Cirque, not to mention some great dining.

The resorts have great pool areas and excellent dining.
