Wow..the food prices have even gone up more since last year at the park.I mean inflation is one thing but jeez! I ate a small salad and a bottle of water from the restaurant near the train station in New Orleans square and it was $14..or how about the bread bowl of chili at the Coke place on Main Street that with a small drink was like $12! Shame on the place..however, ol Walt said he wanted you to feel like you left reality, that is a good example!:lmao: :scared1: I wouldn't talk if the portion size were better..some of you know what I am talking about I am sure.popcorn::

Yeah food has pretty much always been expensive but it's getting even more ridiculous now, making it hard on many families to afford a disney vacation, it's a shame really.

WOAH! Prices have gone up that much? Thats crazy, I didnt know that. Thanks for the heads up. I wonder if some of the online disney menu sites like

http://www.allearsnet.com/dlr/din/menu/menus.htm

will keep us up dated. It seems to be updating so hopefully the prices are right. But yeah it will make it harder for those budgeters to work things out.

Well you have to stop buying bottles of water and small drinks! That's where they are getting you especially.

allears and dlresortinfo have MOST of the restaurants updated to the last price change, and using those sites was absolutely invaluable to me when budgeting for Sept, Dec (after prices went up), and Jan.

Really you didnt find it useful? Fair enough, I guess your right though, maybe they cant update it fast enough or well enough to be totally accurate.

The only way in the future for me, is to hit the AM/PM station on Ball and Disneyland Dr. and get a couple of large Dasani waters and throw them in the backpack..$3.00 for a small 8 ounce bottle is outrageous. Or how about an apple for $2.75! LOL:scared1:

It is expensive. Especially for a family of 6!! :scared1:

I don't mind paying the ticket prices even when they increase because I feel like it's worth it. But it bothers me when we've spent so much to get in and then the food cost is so high as well.

But we stay at a hotel we love that serves a full breakfast (eggs, bacon, pancakes, cereal, fruit, etc) so we eat a large breakfast, get by for lunch on some snacks and drinks that I carry in with us, and then all we need is one meal in the park, so that helps.

The prices of the food inside of the park are ridiculous. Even in DTD it's expensive. We always eat at the restaurants out on Harbor. We bring in our own snacks and water too.

i feel like its not all about food. When i first hired in in September 06, tickets were only $72. Now, im only worked there for 1.5 years, its at $91. It is however affecting the food departments. Incomes from food arent as great as the years before.

Another reason I am sold on ordering groceries as of this last trip. We did sandwiches in the room two or three times which I figured saved us $30 or so each time. If we wouldn't have been on site, we would of had a microwave which we would have done a couple dinners too.

I think this year other then counter services and going outside the park ( I rented a care I am ntog oing to have all my meals in the parks. I am staying concierge so you bet your bippy I'll fil up there maybe even having P&J uncrustables for my supper each night. :rotfl: :lmao:

Disney may be taking it a little further than they need, but inflation in the food sector has really skyrocketed recently. I work in an industry that is impacted with commodity pricing, mainly in things that go into candy (chocolate, milk solids, sugar, different nuts), but also in things that go into baked goods like flour/wheat.

Then on top of the actual food commodities, everything comes in a package. And a lot of food packaging is made from petroleum.

And to top it off, everyone knows transportation costs have skyrocketed. I think I just saw something recently that tracks the national diesel fuel averages and we're over $1/gallon higher now vs. a year ago.

All of that goes into the finished cost of a food item, squeezing the margins. For the most part, businesses stopped trying to absorb the cost increases and are passing them along to the consumer now.

You misunderstood. The poster did find the online menues valuable. The post your responding to said the following:

Invaluable means something is so valuable that it can't have a price put on it. Many people mistake the word to mean something that is useless.

Prices are up everywhere, remember there are many peoples paychecks going into the food prices from the growers to the waitstaff. Just look at the grocery bill at home.
Remember ethanol is going into the fuel supply and it is made of corn, so corn has skyrocketed, how much off the food has corn one way or another, animals eat it and we eat them , grain products have it and now the vehicles that transport it eat it up too!
I perfer to shop carefully here and splurge at DL, the food for us is part of the experience.

They have always been too expensive, even before the economy problems. We always bring in our own water bottles, and we almost never eat in the parks. We'll have one or two nice meals at the parks, and the rest are all from places on Harbor or elsewhere. We always have a car too, so that helps.

I couldn't imagine eating all our meals in the parks. We'd spend a fortune doing that! We're happy with Mimi's, McDonalds, Subway ect...

Food has gone up though, I'm spending maybe an extra $100 a month on groceries. Everything is going up, but paychecks not so much! It's crazy.

We just returned from DLR. We took our own water and snacks with us. We had one "treat" in the park per day.. one day bengal bbq, one day soft serve cones and one ice cream from Main Street -each of those was about $12 for 4 people.

We eat out on Harbor or at block at Orange. We find much better food for less $$$. We didn't even go into DTD this trip.

Total food bill for us for 6 day trip *including driving there/back from No Ca) was $412.

We did eat one meal inside DL. We ate at the Golden Horseshoe and had great tasting chicken and fries. Each $8 meal fed 2 of us... plus we had our own drinks.

Usually when I go I eat a big breakfast to get me through till about noon or 1. And i bring snacks to get me till like 4 or 5 and have an early dinner and then usually we get dessert cause you can't come to DL and not have dessert. But i do agree with you that the prices of food has gone up. And they do it cause they know that no matter the price people will still buy it. When I went on Thursday with my sis I ate at the stagedoor and got the chicken tender meal for 8.99 and i couldn't finish it.

the food for us is part of the experience.

I do agree with this so I will continue to eat lunch/dinner and snacks inside the park but we do bring in our own water and sodas. I do however; think Disney is a multi million $ company and they shouldn't try to SCR*W you at the park. We have already paid an arm and a leg to get in the place and spend a bundle on souvenirs, come on give us a little break here.

Same goes for staying on the property IMO, off subject I know. The prices are outrageous!!! We would really love to stay at GCH or DLH but there is just no way for us to afford it (ok we could but I just won't spend $250/night at the hotel, at least not until my kids are old enough to appreciate it). But people continue paying them and they are constantly booked so I guess they will continue to rise as well.
