The status is: It is awesome. I rode it three times on 2/16 -- twice at park opening and once literally right at park closing (the Fast Pass return clock said 5:00 when we got to EE for that ride). Longest wait was about 12 minutes!
On a "scary thrill" scale, it's a little above Space Mountain but not much but it does some cool things technologically that I've never seen done before on a coaster (doesn't mean they don't exist somewhere else -- just that I've never seen them).
In previews right now. I rode it back in January for the cast previews, but it figures that when I took my family to DAK on friday, the ride was closed for the day lol.
I'm arriving tomorrow for a business meeting Tuesday and I think I can get to AK by noon. I would like to ride Expedition Everest for the first time. Are the lines incredibly long for this? Will they run out of FPs by noon?
We were just there 2 days ago and EE was closed. A cast member said it would be open the day after that. So I guess there's no telling when it will be open or closed before the Grand Opening. That's how it is with soft openings.
We went last Friday afternoon, and had a 37 minute wait in the standby line (we timed it). Can't say that it will always be that short, but at 1:30 in the afternoon last Friday, that's what it was.
edit - Friday 2/24 (guess it's already been a week since we were there!).
Thanks. One thing I noticed when I got home is that most of my pics were from the same general angle but since EE is on the edge of the park, I'm not sure it's even possible to get too many other views close up.
