I was just wondering if the backwards part of EE is really tough or if there is some kind of dip or drop going backwards. I plan to ride in a few months and the only thing that kind of makes me nervous is going backwards. What do you guys think?

It's not bad at all. You toll backwards and to the left into the dark. You'll sit there for a few moments while the track shifts and you'll see the yeti tearing the track shadow apart on the wall.

No worries... it's a really good time.

Here's track layout of the ride. The area marked in blue shows the backwards loop inside the mountain. Once you stop and the tracks change over the coaster heads down the outside drop.

:thumbsup2 It`s not so bad, honest. I was a real ride woose when we went for the first time last year, but EE was the first ride I wanted to go on. I was shaking getting in the seat but boy was it good.
The backwards part feels more like your going up the way instead of dropping, which was good as i have never gone on a ride that dropped backwards because I am too scared.
We ended up going straight back on 7 times until I began to feel a little spinny, so we had a break. After the 7th time I must admit my brain felt a little rattled ;) but not too much.
But it is a fab ride don`t miss it, I`m sure you`ll love it. I can`t wait to get back on this year :cool1:

The backwards part really isn't bad. It's just fast, and and brings you upwards. I find that I feel more pressure from the backwards motion when I'm sitting in the back of the coaster.

I'll have to be the lone voice of dissent I guess! I am sort of a rollercoaster wimp, but I do okay on BTMRR and I kept reading how great and smooth EE was, so I gave it a try last visit. Never again! it scared me to death and it really felt like we went upside down. I'm sure that ride is nothing if you love rollercoasters, but it was way too intense for me.

It's not bad at all. DH is not a roller coaster person and he loved this ride.

I loved EE. My sister, unfortunately, did not. She was sick for the rest of the day. I would definitely not recommend sitting in the back section--try to get more towards the middle.

I have to agree with this. The more in the middle, the better.

I normally ASK for the back (I love the G's!) and did so on Everest. Big mistake. I went back to my room and slept until my 6pm ADR at EPCOT.

I was scared to ride again - but did it anyways and ended up in the middle (didnt ask)

I was absolutely fine.

I'm the queen of wimps when it comes to roller coasters and I hardly noticed the backwards part since it is all in the dark. It is fairly smooth throughout the entire ride IMO.

I am not a fan of roller coasters but I had to try this at least once. The thing with the backwards part is it lasted longer than I thought it would. But once it was done it was OK. Will I go on again? I am not sure. :)

I'm a wimp and I didn't mind it. The first time was fun. My kids then had the brilliant idea to ride it immediately again, and I didn't enjoy that one as much but it was still fine.

This was me. The backwards part did me in. Should have taken some ginger pills. :)

Can anyone tell me how it compares to Mummy ride at US? It goes backwards for a bit also and I am fine on it. If anyone has ridden both and could compare them I sure would appreciate it.

I second that. lol

Self proclaimed wimp. Rode the Mummy and didn't love it..but I didn't emerge feeling sick either.

Rode EE and thought I might hurl. It took a while to feel normal again. These rides usually don't bother my stomach as much as they give me a headache! Anyone else have that problem?

i am a card carrying roller coaster wimp (case in point, i still havent been on RnRC because i am too scared)...

BUT, you asked about EE compared to the Mummy -- well I have done both. I LOVED the Mummy and went on it many times -- its backwards part is much faster than EE.

I did not get sick on EE ... but did sit in the middle. After the 4th time ina row without much of a wait, I did feel a bit sick. I am looking forward to being on this ride again in a few weeks.

Try it... [I honestly did not think it waS BAD?
