Expedition Everest size concerns

As long as they are 44 inches.

Can two 'pooh sized' ppl sit in the seats side by side on the ride? TIA!!! :thumbsup2

"Side-by-side" is not the problem (there's ample SIDE-room).

But its the LAP-BAR that can be a big problem.
It is a fixed, hinged-at-the-floor device which is designed to fit quite snuggly on "normal-sized" people.

If you are rather large around the middle, you COULD (and very well can EXPECT) to have some trouble getting the bar to lock-down (without severely pressing into your stomach).

I'm surprised that there hasn't been more discussion of this on these boards.

I saw several people trying to get the bar to lock and the loading CMs had to "force" the bars to lock-in by pressing down HARD, using their (the CM's) full weight.

Once locked down, I can't believe that this makes for a comfortable riding condition for Pooh-sized folks.

And I can imagine that SOME larger folks might NOT be able to ride because the lap-bar would not be able to lock.

Anyone else see this?

I have concerns about this also. If anyone is Pooh-sized and ridden, could you please relate your experience. Thanks so much! :sad2:

I think my mom and I are pooh sized and we have never had any problems with lap bars ?! Are you talking about pooh, peter pan, ect ? Space Mt might be another story all together. My DH who is anything but pooh sized gets squished in between the seat and the bar !!

No (of course not something like Peter Pan or HM). ;)

I'm talking directly about the new EE ride vehicles.

The lap bars are very rigid and (when locked) don't have much space between them and the back of the seat.

I can see real problems with some larger-sized people trying to get the bars to lock.

I'm surprised that we haven't heard much either. I don't want to embarrass myself or my family so I have concerns about this ride. Disney usually does such a great job dealing with people and their differences, I don't know what happened this time?

I read somewhere that there was a sample car near the entrance that you could sit in. It probably does not have the lap bar in operation though.

Didn't see any "test car".

Consider this.
On BTM, the lap-bars "lock" at different "heights" (there is more than one "lock-point") and the "highest" click is ample for nearly any size rider.

Also in BTM, both riders "share" one lap-bar so if one is larger the smaller one may be a bit "less locked in" (true even when an adult is seated with a small child).

However on EE, there is a separate lap-bar for EACH RIDER (even when seated side-by-side)... BUT (even IF there are several "lock-levels") the first lock-level (or maybe the only one) is pretty darn SNUG.

I don't know WHY the individual bars do not have more "range" in their locking positions.

I'm still waiting for anyone of EXTRA SIZE to relate their experience.

DH and I just got back (3/8) and rode with no problem. We consider ourselves "bear in the big blue house" size, a little bigger than POOH sized. I carry my weight on the bottom and DH in the middle, and neither of us had a problem with the seat or lap belt. and we do have problems on some rides and with seatbealts on the airplanes, if that helps with our size.

Also this ride is not that bumpy so its a comfortable ride, I laughed and screamed the whole time. (we went on it twice!!!)

There are no "belts" on EE.

I assume you meant "bars".

sorry I did mean bars, I was already thinking about that airplane seat belt!! sorry...

Thanks for your responses. :goodvibes Hopefully maybe some other ppl will relay there ride experiences with us? :listen:

We're both Very pooh sized. My dh husband REALLY wants to ride this ride since he loves the whole myth about Bigfoot and whatnot, however he doesn't want to embarress himself size wise.

Looking for feedback as well...Tubagirl, do you mind sharing what size you and hubby are?

I rode EE today and I noticed a sign while waiting in the FP lane that actually stated that the ride vehicles may not be able to "fit" certain people due to their size/shape/weight.....I have never seen a sign that said anything like this! Mabe I don't pay attention to many signs, but it seemed strange to me. I think the seats are on the small side.....I am overweight, but not really pooh sized...not sure what pooh size is though...so who knows...I might be! The lap bars are a little uncomfortable, but they hold you in snuggly!

I heard something recently (maybe on Inside the Magic) that the lap bars had been modified to make it easier for larger people to ride EE.

Ohhh I hope so! :guilty:

Has anyone else heard this?

Tubachick----sounds great! I appreciate your feedback. It's nice to know that you guys had no problem. I'm looking forward to riding in May. And, like you, hoping to be a wee bit smaller by then!
