Expedition Everest - Questions?

That "backwards in the dark" business is the one reason why I'll never ride EE again! I had a "deep down" headache for several hours afterward.
I suppose I was expecting a slight "drifting" back--something like the ride in Norway. But this was fast and in the dark and with that cork-screw motion--all of which conspired to do me in.
Too bad--I had no trouble with the drops, and the "scenery" is great.

polyk, I watched the video three times. I think you are in the dark about 14-15 seconds. That's the part I'm afraid of I don't want a headache.

On a different note, we noticed that a structure is being build between Everest and Dinoland. Does anyone know what this is?

I am curious about this too. I thought maybe it was the theatre where the old Tarzan Rocks show used to be but it is all 'boxed' in now. Anyone know what this is going to be?

Not to go OT, but please don't go to AK with the idea that you'll get there at 9AM (or 8AM), be the only ones there, and you'll get on EE a half dozen times before the crowd builds up.

We got there at 8AM last Wednesday (maybe Tuesday) and 9AM last Thursday with a few thousand (s) of our closest friends who were also headed for EE. We got a fastpass for both days 3 hours later. And EE broke down on Wednesday (Tuesday ?) so we got a free pass and then EE broke down right after we rode it on Thursday. Great ride, but in this heat, it seems to be a crap shoot as to whether you'll get on or get stuck. Just my opinon.

Fair warning to have a positive attitude.

The specs for EE: length: 4400'. height: 112', drop 80', no inversions, speed 50 mph Riders must be 44" tall The height of the mountain (not the track) is supposed to be 200' tall.

Not much of a roller coaster gal, but really liked EE. BTM is generally as wild as I go...but I really wanted to try EE, and did...DD (5), did not like it at all, but I did as did DS 11.

Can't wait to ride it again in September!!!!

I rode EE a few weeks ago and thought it was pretty tame the first time. I made a point to ride in front car. The cool part was up at the top you can look over and see the geosphere at Epcot. Second time I decided to ride last car and loved it. Seemed longer and more of a sense of speed. I recommend last car for all you coaster lovers. Still think Rnr and Tot are much better rides though

Rode it once and never again. I loved the theming and the yeti, but going backwards in the dark gave me such a headache and made me dizzy and nauseous. I am glad I rode it once, but don't want to feel like that again!

I think you are indeed referring to the old Tarzan Rocks theater which is being fully enclosed. Sometime late this year (around November) a new show will be premiering entitled Finding Nemo: The Musical. It sounds like a great show-- the music is being composed by Robert Lopez, the Tony award-winning composer of Avenue Q on Broadway. If you wanna see an eary "test performance" of one of the songs done at a Disney press event, go here:

I can't wait for this show.

Oh, and to stay on topic, can't wait to ride Everest either. :thumbsup2

EE . . .my new favorite ride. Stay at AK until closing and you can get in line a number of times to ride it. We went on the ride around 4 and as soon as we got off . . . we got back in the line and rode it over and over again - no wait!

I wonder what it is about the backwards portion of the ride that does this. It did the same thing to me, and I've read similar reports from a number of others. Hopefully someone can clue me in. I was surprised that I felt that way, as roller coasters have never bothered me in the past. :confused3

No corkscrews or loops anywhere, including in the dark. A backward helix does give a feel similar a bit to a loop.

Here is a good site.....

http://www.thefilehut.com/userfiles/luke2102/everest/everest.html

Read the instructions as to how to start, etc. Watch with and without the buildings and mountain. If you have not ridden before, some spoilers maybe.

Hmmm ... that URL doesn't seem to work for me.
