Expedition Everest..... loop?

I will agree and RNR and CS are the only Disney coasters in America that go upside down. But, don't assume that a coaster can't go upside down if it only has a lap bar.

For Example Scorpion at Busch Gardens Tampa, has a loop with only lap bars. Flight of Fear at Kings Island, Ohio has several http://www.rcdb.com/66.htm?p=12707 and only a lap bar. That's only a couple of several examples, but I will agree it's rather rare.

EXACTLY! Everyone always assumes you have to have over the shoulder restraints (horse collars) on an inverting coaster. Only because horse collars where the exclusive use of Arrow Dynamics that built many of the first modern inverting coasters. Schwartzkopf never used horse collars, hence Scorpion, all of his shuttle loops (Knotts has one), and Sooper Dooper Looper at Hershey have JUST lap bars. (all of which are Schwartzkopf's) Much more comfortable if you ask me, and just as safe. However, Schwartzkopf's are a vanishing breed, which is why there are so few of them.

Rut row... This sounds more intense than I had planned for... I was likening it to BTM... Which I can handle... Along with only one ride on Space Mountain, Aerosmith... Just not things like tea cups, Star Tours...

Hoping this doesn't make me queasy!!

The teacups and Star Tours get to me too (as well as Mission Space's orange side), but I am fine on Everest.

I know several other people have since chimed in to agree with this, but I thought I'd add mine. At Six Flags St. Louis, there is a Mr. Freeze coaster that goes upside down without shoulder restraints. Weirdly enough, it HAD them on initial installation, and a couple years later, they took them out and put in lap bars. :confused3 Some say it was because people were hitting their heads against the sides of the shoulder restraints during part of the ride, but that still happens on another coaster in the same park with shoulder restraints, so who knows what the real story is there.

One way to know that there is no loop is the fact that there is only a lap bar. In most rides with a LARGE loop the saftey harness is over the shoulder if you are inverted.

I can't do the Teacups either and I do get a little sick for a second when we go backwards but otherwise you should be fine:goodvibes

These two sentences conflict, and the first one is just wrong. As already pointed out, there are a number of coasters with a loop and only a lap bar.

The speed, the dark and the fact that you're going backwards are all disorienting enough that many people SWEAR there's an inversion... but there isn't. The only coaster with an inversion at Disney World is Rock n Roller Coaster in the studios.

No loop but speaking as someone with motion sickness issues that backwards trip just kills me. I can ride the loops multiple times on RNR without too much trouble but one trip on Everest leaves me sweating. Last trip I skipped the ride and just enjoyed the display in the queuing area.

:confused3 I have never been an upside down roller coaster that didn't have shoulder harness so I don't think they were wrong in their statement.

Disney-wise.
I wasn't talking about any other amusement park, as this is the Disney board. :)

There are pictures provided within this thread that prove that the first statement is wrong (plus other people have provided examples of other coasters that disprove the statement).

I have, so I know they are. I only need to know one coaster to be sure of my statement, you need to know all of them to be sure of yours. Which is more likely?

I've been on a few. One of my first non-Disney coasters was the MindBender at Six Flags Over Georgia that included a loop with only a lap bar.

Someone asked about seeing the design of the coaster and there is a great short movie and the Ultimate Walt Disney World Vacation on Amazon that goes into how they designed and constructed the ride it was pretty awesome. I shows a good bit of the coaster design in the planning process as well as about 10 other popular Disney attractions. Its about an hour long and my girls loved watching it as we gear up for our trip.

If you have Amazon Prime it was free and I think I just searched for Disney or Disney Parks. Really looking forward to riding this ride for the 1st time!!
