I'm sorry if this has been already asked - but we'll be there in July and was just wondering if this ride would be ok for my 6 year old. He likes roller coasters and meets the height requirement but wasn't sure if it would be too scary for him (super fast, dangerous turns, things popping out to scare you etc).

Just wondering if anyone has experienced it. Thanks.

I say if he wants to try it -let him. My six year old plans on riding it next month. BTW_her five year old friend rode it in MArch and really liked it best-she is still talking about it! :)

My 11 year old niece rode it last week and said it was really scary--we are going in three weeks and she was really iffy about whether I should take my DD6 and DS8 on it. Thanks for asking as I have not decided what to do and would love to see other responses!!

I saw a lot of kids about that age on EE when we rode in May. But I'll never ride it again. That backwards plunge in the dark left me with a headache for several hours after.
I think it's going rather fast for any of the "inside" stuff (the Yeti, etc) to be really scary.

DS6 is going to try it in 2 weeks. I can post more after we get back. He loves "the mountain" rides but did not like ToT when we rode it. He is also not interested in RnRC :sad1: . But, for some reason he said he'd try EE :cool1:

EE isn't really that bad. I think what makes it worse is that anticipation of the unknown on your first ride. I'm not sure if you are familiar with Hershey park, but I'd compare the backwards part of EE to the final turns of the Trailblazer, but backwards. I've been on EE many times. It no longer gets my stomach at all, but I still marvel at the animatronics of the Yeti, and the technology of the track.

I'm kind of a big chicken and I loved it! I think if a 6 year old likes "the mountains" at the MK, they will be fine on EE.

What a great job they did with this ride! We were so impressed!!!

Monday I rode EE and on the train after mine went, were 3 rows each with a 5 year old triplet each with an adult and I talked to the adult who was with the one in my row and she told me it was their first coaster ever. When I got off the ride I waited to see the expression on their faces. The one boy was extremely happy and checking out his photo, one girl was pretty much neutral, basically expressionless and the other girl was crying like she's never cried before, terrified. That shows everyone is different, I just wouldn't have put them on Everest for their first coaster, Goofy's Barnstormer or Big Thunder would be better choices.

We were there last week and DS6 LOVED LOVED LOVED it - he likes roller coasters but this was his all time favorite!

Thanks everyone for your input. I guess I'll wait to see what his mood is like the day we're there! :)

One thing you may want to do is show him a video of it now, so he can get an idea of what the ride is like. We did this with my 6 year-old dd, and she is sure she wants to ride it when we go. My dh was able to talk with her about the parts that could be scary so she had a better understanding of what was happening (I didn't watch any of the videos because I want it to be a complete surprise). If you Google "Expedition Everest video" you will get a bunch of sites with videos of a ride-through.

Good luck!

We were there in March and our DS6 loved it.

The first time we rode, he chose not to go.

Then the second time we rode, he decided he wanted to go and loved it. :cool1: The next time through, by his insistance, he and my DH waited for the first car :scared: (once up front was enough for me). The next time, he and DH waited for the last car. But, these were totally his decisions and if he had backed out at the last minute, we would have been fine with that. I think as long as they are willing to try it, why not let them? Worse that happens is they hate it and never go again.

It's definately on his top 5 list for October when we return. :thumbsup2
