Expedition Everest for the soft stomach

Everest is very smooth; however, the backwards, helix in the dark even threw me for a small loop. I wasn't queasy, just ever so slightly light on my feet when I got off. It lasted about 5 minutes. I would go again in a heartbeat.

It is smoother than BTMRR and slower than Space Mountain. It is a very unique experience.

It's much faster than Space. Even Big Thunder is faster than Space and this is faster than Big Thunder.

My motto is to try everything once. Take the usual precautions - don't eat right before going on, maybe do it toward the end of the day, etc - but at least try it. If she hates it or it makes her quesy, she never has to do it again. But if she never tries it, she may miss out on what could be a new favorite.

I agree with most here...I NEVER (ok, rarely) get motion sickness, but with EE, I found the backward, turning drop in the dark to be best described as "disorienting." Great ride, though! :thumbsup2

I do not like roller coasters but managed to get the courage to get on EE. It was excellent. I think going backwards might not be good for the stomach but there a no jolts it is straight up, then back and then down and then you're done...

Anyone know how long approximately the whole ride lasts?
I want to say its about 2 1/2 minutes. Because of the two transitions, there are 5-10 second pauses in the ride. There are a couple of first-person videos on the net that you can use to time it exactly. The following are published specs:

Make: Vekoma
Model: Custom
Length: 4424'
Height: 112'
Drop: 80'
Speed: 50 mph

After riding EE about 6 times now, IMO there is only one point of the reverse "helix" that you actually pull any significant G's. IMO, the ride is not "rough" thru the transitions, unlike Primevil Whirl, where the speed is far slower, but you experience sharp changes in direction thru out the ride.

As someone who tends to suffer from motion sickness, I just wanted to throw in my two cents. We went to WDW last month and after reading all the reports about how intense EE was, I was very nervous about riding it. I decided to give it a try, and boy was I glad I did! I loved this ride, rode it 4 times as a matter of fact! I took Bonine each morning while we were there and had no problem with Everest making me feel sick.
