I just saw the video posted in a previous thread. I had also heard that there was an 80 foot drop. I was wondering if the drop is in the dark and just how bad it is? I am trying to decide if I am going to ride it. I have ridden RnR and do not like the fast start. The rest of it was fine for me. I like Space Mountain as it doesn't have any drops. Can anyone compare EE to anything else they have ridden?

The drop is about the same as Splash Mountain. You come out of a dark tunnel into the daylight to make the drop. All you can really see is how high you are until you adjust to the sunlight. It's not that bad at all really. My DS is 6 and he loved it, even said "Whee!"

You can see the drop before you even line up to ride it. Check it out for yourself when you get there. I think you will be just fine. :goodvibes

Hi,
My husband and I got to ride this twice on Thursday. The drop is 80ft and it is outside. The drop on Splash is 52ft. You can see the drop as you approach the ride. Go and enjoy.

Thanks for your responses. Is this the scarriest part of the ride?

The drop did not bother me as much as the part where you go backwards in the dark. That gave me a bit of an "off" feeling. I did ride it again that day but then figured that was enough as I was not really feeling that well after that ride. Will have to use Dramimine before I ride this again. I used to have to do this to ride R'nRC but I do not have to do that any longer as long as I only ride it once in a day. ToT on the other hand I can ride again and again with no issues.

honestly, there are no 'scary' parts to the ride. by the time you realize you're on the drop, it's over and you're moving uphill.

I agree, the drop didn't bother me either as much as going backwards in the dark. I rode it three times in succession and had the same "off" feeling. I felt fine, though, after getting a bite to eat.

If there's anyone else out there who does NOT like steep drops, but rode this and survived, please post! I'm really scared . . . come on, I can't be the ONLY one! :worried:

I rode this yesterday, it was my first coaster ever. I'll preface it by saying everyone with me and around me loved it. I was miserable. It took me a good hour to recover from it. When it went backwards in the dark it was very fast and I felt as though I was being tossed around. I never really recovereed from that bit and then the big outside drop happened.

When we got off I was shaking like a leaf. I sat in the shade while my friends walked over to see the tigers and then we went over and rode the Safari (which was pretty much no wait, since everyone was on EE.) It was about halfway through that before I started feeling back to normal. I'm glad I did it, it was a challenge for me. But if you really are frightened, I'll tell you it scared me badly. But again, anyone who likes that sort of ride has loved it.

That would be me. We live near a six flags and for about 15 years, we've been taking our kids, but mommy sits out and holds everything because she's too scared. I hate drops. I think the difference with this ride is that you don't go up slow and hear that tic tic tic tic. Its just smooth sailing and very enjoyable.

We are not big fans of huge drops but this one didn't bother us at all. We are ready to go and try it again if the lines will ever go down a little.

What happens in the dark parts? Down hills or just winding back and forth

I am NOT crazy about heights either, and I hate going backwards - but we rode this twice yesterday (Sunday) and absolutely loved it. Because I have not ridden Sheikra (too scared of heights for that one!) in BG, I was somewhat scared of this. I found myself so mesmerized by the ride, neither the height, nor going backwards, nor the drops bothered me and I couldn't get over how "smooth" the ride is. It is really great to see the view when climbing to the left - showing parts of Epcot, MGM, hotels, etc. - and I'm sure I would see more each time I rode it.
Everyone is different; everyone will react differently to this ride. My family keeps telling me I'd be ok on Mission Space but I still refuse to ride it. EE looked like way too much fun, and it was! The surprises are worth the ride alone, and the queue line is fascinating. Even if you don't feel you can ride it, walk with your family through the line just to check it out! :cool1:

How much of the ride is backwards? I'm not keen on big drops either, but nothing has ever affected me as much as Mission Space. I heard a little whimpering noise during take off and realised it was me! :rotfl2:

Couple questions:

1) how far/long do you go backwards, more than once?

2) as for the 80 foot drop, anyone know the degree of the drop?

3) can anyone compare it to RipSaw Falls drop (straight down :scared1: talk about air-time!).

TIA

Exactly! It's not the length of the drop, it's the degree of steepness! I love rollercoasters but I'm trying to get my DH to ride EE. We've never been on a rollercoaster together... yet! :teeth:

that ripsaw falls drop in island of adventure is bad man, it almost takes your breath away.

i haven't been on EE but looking at the pictures of the drop - it doesn't look as bad as Ripsaw falls.

If the question is really about whether or not you will catch air....the answer is yes, you will catch air. Not for long, but yes. I see no reason to punish people by fooling them into riding something. The ride is very disorienting and quite thrilling. Going in and out of daylight and tunnels confuses you, but I am being completely honest when I say, it's not a scary ride by itself. The tracks are NOT crazy.....it's the other elements, like darkness/daylight, backwards/forwards and the fear of the unknown that will get ya! By the third time I rode it, I realized it was quite tame for I normally ride at other theme parks. :goodvibes The air time in my opinion is no worse than say...Splash Mountain..well maybe a second or two longer but not much. The reason I mention Splash Mountain has nothing to do with the whole 52 foot vs. 80 foot drop...it has more to do with the steepness. ;)

One of the reasons I like RipSaw Falls is the airtime & the sensation of the curved track that makes it seem like you're hurtling straight down into darkness pretty scary w/o restraints, except for those two things attached to your arms- hands LOL!

So...do we know the degree of the drop?cluck, cluck...@ least EE has restraints!
