DW and I are planning to participate in the EEC in August.

Here is my question...How does transportation work for these events? We are staying at Wilderness Lodge on vacation during this time.

Will we need to take a cab or will the Disney buses be able to get us home.

Thanks in advance for all of the useful replies :)

Transportation is only available from the host hotels. Before the race, you could probably take the last bus from Wilderness Lodge to AK and just wait around for a bit until the race starts. After the race, your only option is really to take a cab back.

Also don't forget that you'll need to get to Wild World of Sports either Friday or early Saturday to pick up your race packet. Other than the event buses (which again, only run from the host hotels), there's a bus from Hollywood Studios to WWoS. I made the trip this way in February and it's not too bad. It was just a little tricky at first finding the right bus stop - it's kind of in a separate area from the normal resort buses.

Were taxi cabs available at AK or do you need to call one?

Thanks for the info on WWoS. I hadn't even considered getting there. You just assume you can get anywhere on Disney property via bus.

I can't remember if there were cabs available. Whenever I've taken a cab at WDW it's always been from a hotel to somewhere. Anyway, it's probably best to have the number with you in case you need to call.

Do you happen to know how often the buses come by at Hollywood Studios to go to WWoS?

Also, we are not staying at AKL till the day of the race - staying at GF before then. Do you happen to know if there would be any problem with us catching at bus to AKL on that Friday and then taking the provided bus from there to WWoS? Would it matter that we aren't AKL guests yet?

Thanks for any advice you could give me! :)

Sorry, I can't remember the frequency. I want to say 20-30 minutes, but that's just a guess.

There shouldn't be any problem getting on the bus at AKL to go to WWoS even if you aren't a registered guest yet. At last year's EEC and the Princess 1/2 in March I was never asked for ID. The buses aren't regular Disney buses, so keep an eye out for a sign in the window indicating where the bus is going. It might be a Disney Cruise Line bus or a Mears bus. When you get to AKL, if you don't see the bus right away, check with the Concierge to see whether the bus is picking people up at the normal bus stop or at a different location. Last year I stayed at All Star Sports and the bus was parked out back of the resort instead of out front where you'd usually find transportation.

Thank you so much for your answer! :goodvibes
