Expedition Everest Challenge -- Registration?

Anyone have a guess when registration will be? It makes me nervous not to have my hotel booked by 7 months out and ready with ADRs at 180 days.

I am starting to think I am the only one running this. No info on runDisney except the date, no FB event page (like the other events have) and on the new runDisney website, it's the only race with no icon to represent it.

Tell me honestly, DH and I are going to show up that night in some kind of ridiculous costumes and be the only ones there, right?

It just seems odd that all the other events open so far in advance and it seems like this one will be December based on prior years.

You won't be the only ones...it is just that many of the same people are running Tower of Terror and Wine & Dine, so after those are over, the focus will go to that race.

Not even remotely! Last year's was overcrowded, in my opinion

^^ This, exactly. I've got the TOT, W&D 5K, and Princess Half to go yet, so I'm not thinking much about Everest yet, but will be running it with son again. There is a thread for the 2013 EEC somewhere... I'll see if I can dig it up for ya...

I'm planning on running this! I really am not a runner but I'm doing the Couch to 5K in hopes that I can do it, and of course have an excuse to get down to Disney
I'm not panicking for much about ADRs since it will be a super short weekend trip for me, but instead about hotels! I can't wait to find out which are the "preferred" hotels for the race that will provide transportation. I assume AKL, but hopefully we find out each in each category!

I'm doing the Princess too (and Tough Mudder in a few weeks!!) but it just seemed like this one is the ugly red-headed step sister race compared to the hype the others get. The registration date on the Princess was available months before registration opened and it opened more tan 7 months in advance. Same with the others. This one just seems to be left out of all the press for some reason. (And I am way too OCD to wait that long to book my room. I will literally lose my mind by then!!!! )

I think this is the race that Disney is actually trying to get rid of. It has always been the race that you had to pry information out of Disney for. I don't think it makes the money the others do because of not having a real Expo. I wouldn't be surprised if they replaced it with something else or added on to the distance so that they could justify having a real Expo. I would imagine that this would be turned into a race weekend with a 10 miler or Half Marathon in the future.

Another 10-miler would be good. That makes sense though because there is literally nothing out there. Looking at the runDisney website, there is an icon for each event except this one.

I guess being just a 5K makes it less of a draw. Maybe they should focus more on obstacles or something. Or just make it longer. The kids' runs are probably not necessary since the main event is 5K. Maybe get rid of the kids runs and beef up the run itself? I don't know. Or get rid of it..but not until next year because it'a already on our itinerary for 2013!
