Expedition Everest Challenge 2015 - EEC 2015

The DVC and AP spots are full. I couldn't get my password to work on the registration from so I called and there was a message that the spots are all full. I hope we get a spot on the 16th!

What time will registration open on the 16th? I have to work and I don't want to miss out. I has the forms all filled out through the DVC link but stalled too long:(

You can double check as we get closer, but if it's true to form and the early registration it should be NOON EST.

ETA: Actually see where they've confirmed it's NOON EST.

Oh NO!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek:

I work 7am-7pm (on an ambulance so no possible way to do it at work:sad1:) and I don't know who will be able to do it for me...

This sucks...it's my own fault since I didn't get the funds together fast enough to get in with the DVC/AP link. I needed to wait until this Friday (payday) for one more deposit to hit the account.

Oh, man...if we can't get in, my DD9 will be SOOOO upset. We promised her she could do the EEC if her knee healed up in time. She had surgery on it in January and had a lot of complications and a super S-L-O-W recovery, but we just found out last week that she has been cleared to start running:dance3:. It will be heartbreaking if we miss the registration.

I am assuming that once this race opens at noon that it will be sold out by about 2pm at the latest. I will have to see if I can walk DH through the registration process. Since we have 2 2-person teams to register, I hope that we don't get one in and miss the other. THAT would be very bad:scared:.

Please reassure me that this will all be fine and we will get in:grouphug:.

EDITED:

Wait....Noon on the 16th??...That's a TUESDAY!!:yay::cheer2::dance3:...I don't work Tuesdays so I can definitely be on the computer, ready to go at noon:woohoo:. For some reason, I thought it was Friday, the 12th....

OMG...I can sleep without Ambien tonight:lmao:.

I was so surprised to see this sold out. Iris the early registration for W&D but I can't remember if I did it on day 1. We did EE in 2009/10, I have to check my shirt- it was my first race. So, we really want to do 2015. Hope my work doesn't block the registration site!

I hope to get in on this too since it might be the last - we just happen to be going during this time.

I must be missing something on the rD web page, but can someone confirm that registration starts at 12pm (eastern) tomorrow (12/16)? I thought I saw a reference to noon being the starting time, but now I can't see to find that info.

Never mind - just got the rD email saying it's at noon!

2015 is definitely the last EE Challenge. runDisney has it posted on the EE Challenge section of runDisney.com.

YES. I just got a reminder email: "THE FINAL EXPEDITION EVEREST CHALLENGE IS ON SALE TOMORROW AT NOON ET!"

Good luck to everyone registering! My husband and I want to participate but we can't be 100% sure he won't have a work commitment, so we don't want to sign up with no deferral option available. Bummer!

So does everyone think this will sell out faster this year since it's the last one? I know in the past it has taken longer...

We just haven't had time to decide!! :(

My instinct is yes, but I could be wrong. I feel like it'll draw a lot more die hard rD fans since it's the last one.

Sell-out times from the past couple years for reference:
2013 EEC was on sale Dec 11, 2012 - Feb 9, 2013 (58 days)
2014 EEC was on sale Dec 17, 2013 - Jan 18, 2014 (31 days)

So sales had already been a bit quicker in line with the general uptick runDisney races have seen over the past couple years. That may have continued anyway for this year, and I think announcing it's the final run will only speed it along.

You have put my mind at ease. I have been a ball of nerves since the DVC/AP spots filled up. I had the forms all filled out, just to get the total cost, but I had not consolidated all of my funds onto a single debit card so I didn't register. Then, when I saw they'd sold out, I started freaking out, thinking that we might not get in:scared1:. I have about three different reminders for me to get on the computer at noon tomorrow:wizard:Until I read this, I was nervous that I would get half of our family registered and the registration would close before I could get the other two registered. I was thinking it would sell out in minutes to hours, not days to weeks. I guess I was panicky for nothing:lmao:.

I have another question regarding the "team name". We are one family of 4, but since the kids are 9 and 11, we are "racing";) as 2 "teams" of 2. Can we use the same "team name" for both or do they have to be different? I really don't want to name our team(s), but if I have to, I will. It's not printed on anything is it?

Thanks!

Another team registration question - if my friend and I each register ourselves, how do we register ourselves as a team? Or should just one of us register for both of us to make sure we are a team?

Also, are there any real "perks" to being registered as a team? My friend and I already planning to do this together, so I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it to try to figure out the official team thing.

I'm in for 2015! I was able to register early since I'm a "perfect participant". RunDisney sent me an email with a special link and said I had guaranteed entry as long as I registered by a certain date. No discount offered, but at least it was nice to know I had a spot saved.

I've always done it solo, but from what I've noticed the team name is printed on the race bib. I think you have to have unique names, but you can do something like Smith Family 1 and Smith Family 2. A lot of team names are actually very creative and it makes me glad I'm solo as I'm not that creative!

Again I've always raced solo but I'd say the perks are that you know you'll be in the same corral and that you'll be able to work on one set of clues together, rather than each having a set of clues that will likely be slightly different. The way you solve the clue is the same so you could still work together (although technically against the rules) but you might have different checkpoints. Also as mentioned above you get your team name printed on your bib.

So to register as a team, does one person register both people, or can my friend and I each register ourselves and then link our registration later?

I really don't think I am gonna do this. As I got more into running and done more races, the $125 price tag is crazy to me. Yes. You get into the park as well, but still. I ran ToT for $175.... I am only in the fence because it's the last one and my first EVER race was Everest so it holds a special place in my heart.

One person registers the team. If you are registering, you will add her name and info on your registration. I know this because I was tryiong to do early registration and our 2 teams did not agree on names and it closed that afternoon before we came up with one. :(

Also, looking through past years results I did see repeat team names so to the PP that was asking, I believe you can have the same team names for 2 different teams, they will distinguish by the runners names. :thumbsup2

Thanks for this info! Any idea if I need my fellow runners DOB & address? Any other info?

DOB, yes
Address, ehhh I'm pretty sure you will need it, not 100%.
Almost certain email is needed
You will also will need their shirt size
expected finish time, although no proof is needed
TEAM NAME :lmao:
I think that's it. I'm spacing out.
