Expedia??

I posted before that Expedia had the days I needed for DLH at 129 for the 1st two nights but then it went up to $265 for the third night. Well, the third night has gone all the way down to $179! I don't know if I should wait any longer to book it and see if it goes down to $129. Does anyone have experience with Expedia doing this? Even with the increased third night I am saving over the AP rate, plus I don't have to buy the AP and can use military rate tickets. I guess I am just worried that if I DO book it, it will go down to $129 and if I DON'T book it right now, it will go up!

I have no personal experience with Expedia. That being said, my friend booked through them and got a room with the worst possible location in the GCH. I don't know if that was coincidence or not.

My advice is to book it while you can. It could go down, but it's much more likely to go back up or away entirely. I'm guessing the near term rates are generally set by how many rooms are still available and how near the dates: the the fewer rooms still available this close to your stay, the higher the price. The fact that the price was much higher implies that there are not very many rooms available.

You are getting a standard room at this rate. I don't know if they differentiate one standard room from another. If so, Expedia rooms are not likely to be one of the better standard rooms. However, it doesn't have to be bad, especially since you will be checking in for 3 nights (and it appears there may still be some vacancies when you check-in). When I booked through Expedia, I requested Marina Tower at check-in. I was checking in fairly late during a pretty busy period. I got a second floor room, but I was actually able to see the fireworks from the room. I thought it was better than being on the city side of the Bonita Tower for view and location.

I have used Expedia for every single stay (6 total) at the Disneyland Hotel and twice for Paradise Pier. My experience is that $169 was about the lowest I ever got for a nightly average and I got $129 for Paradise Pier for this September. So that sounds like a good deal and I would grab it. I once could've gotten a great rate for the Grand Californian, got greedy and it disappeared unfortunately. If something really good comes up they will charge you like $25 to change the reservation to a newer one with the better rate, which could end up saving you more money. I have never been able to snag an AP rate that could rival the Expedia ones. I have always had good luck with them. I have usually ended up with the Bonita Tower but actually have requested that the last couple of times because we like walking through the Koi Ponds and fountains at night. It's also close to the arcade where my kids love to spend their quarters and the Lost Boys Bar where I like to spend mine!

I don't think the location of your room is at all connected with how you made your reservation. Once your reservation is in their system, all reservations for the same type of room are treated equally. I agree that you should go ahead and grab the rate as it is now.

I'm a harcore bargain shopper. When planning our upcoming trip I hit AAA, Expedia, discount sites of all kinds and the best deal I got was:

Airfare: South West
Car: Rent separately, AVIS
Tickets and room: Get Away Today

We're really happy with the service we get from GAT and the room rates were excellent. We couldn't get a room as near the gate as we wanted for that price with anyone else.
