Expansion or 5th Park?

Thanks for all the comments and ideas everyone!! To be honest with you the only attraction that I hope doesn't close at DHS is the great movie ride! I believe it's the spirit of DHS and it wouldn't seem right without it. I recently heard rumors of it closing and I hope that's not true.

Some of the scenes could use a refresh, but I agree GMR should stay. I don't put to much weight in that rumor. It was rumored a while back that it would be removed to make way for Star Wars. I think at one point or another almost half the attractions at DHS were rumored to be removed to make way for Star Wars.

Expansion and Renovation. Magic Kingdom is good for now, though Adventureland could use something else in the future. The old Fire Mountain plans I read about years ago from Jim Hill could be looked into, but MK needs just some sprucing up for now.

Animal Kingdom is already getting the attention it needs. The Lion King move is a good start, but I expect Pandora and the night show will be great adds.

Hollywood Studios. I would set up only one entrance into the parking lot from the north, opening up the southern end for an expansion outwards that could feature both Star Wars and maybe an Indiana Jones ride of some type. I'd also further expand the Pixar area, likely changing over the Backlot Tour to a Pixar theme of some kind and building another attraction near Toy Story Mania.

So bullet point plan for Hollywood Studios if I were in charge:

- Star Wars area with a second E-ticket draw and a theater for a proper stage show. I may also toy with the idea of doing a story time akin to Enchanted Tales with Belle, except with Star Wars. We'll call it the boys' storytime.

- Indiana Jones area with a refreshed stunt show and a ride themed after the mine chase sequence in Temple of Doom (not a Dinosaur type like in Cali). Indy and Star Wars would expand southward, with retention ponds being relocated and the parking lot entry eliminated.

- Pixar area. Maybe a Cars themed tour that isn't built on the Test Track system entirely or adds something very different - not using the same bits as Test Track does. Be good to expand the building next to Toy Story Mania and do something like Crush's Coaster there.

Now on to Epcot.

- Universe of Energy. I love the long form show here, but it needs an update AND needs some kind of exit area with interaction. I'm nostalgic, so I'd love to see a modern variation on the old "moving blocks" intro that was there originally, but something more engaging.

- Wonders of Life. I'd like to see them tear this out and build a new pavilion back here. Not sure what, but it needs to fit in with the Future World concept.

- Imagination. My dream would be a rebuild of the original ride. That's not happening, though. I would like to bring a new ride in that features both Dreamfinder and Figment, but uses different ride tech and more modern equipment to allow different experiences while riders actually get a chance to flex some imagination muscles while going through the ride. Imageworks needs to be completely overhauled as well.

-New Pavilion between The Land and Living Seas. Again, not sure of the theme.

-Russia pavilion along the river featuring buildings from various parts of the country. This one should feature a ride that takes Soarin' to the next level with Kuka Robo Arms.

-Japan. Revive the Mt. Fuji concept and build a real coaster at Epcot.

I think a Dark/Villains Kingdom would be my vote for another gate. Starwars would be awesome but I don't see them doing a whole park. If Maleficent is successful, I could see more villains movies and eventually a villains park. I think it would really appeal to true disney fans who love characters like Jafar, Queen of Hearts, Oogie Boogie, Scar, and many others. There's a lot of opportunity and ideas that either I or many others could mention. It's probably just a dream, but I would have to guess it's at least been discussed.

I LOVE the idea of a villains park!!! Or at least a section of one devoted to the villains. Love that idea!

at Hollywood Studio-

Ok, I say for DHS they need to make Star Wars a priority this year. Get rid of "Lights, Camera, Motors" and change the Backlot Tour. Give Star Wars that corner of the property. Also, something that no one else has siad on here, what about getting back to producing actual TV shows/commercials/movies on-site at DHS. I know back when it first opened then MGM Studios were more of actual working "movie studios". What happened? Isn't that what DHS was all founded in?

Also, I could see them investing in a "Radiator Springs"-type Cars themed land in either DHS, or changing the Tomorrowland Speedway into a Cars themed attraction.

A rehab and refresh of the movies on The Great Movie Ride needs to happen too. I can't see that going away. Its an iconic part of the park that needs to be refreshed badly.

at Epcot-

For Epcot I agree that I think they need to start in Future World. So much of the FW buildings are un-used, or parts are no longer used. Its really a shame, and is valuable space for displays, rides, and attractions. Something big and sponsored (I saw Apple/Microsoft mentioned above) needs to happen at FW. Just don't mess with Figment or Spaceship Earth.

And what about the possibility of adding a new country to World Showcase? I know Isreal was orginally planned in '82, and Africa (South Africa?) was always discussed. I wonder if Spain, or even Russia would make sense?

Resort-Wide Expansion-

Expand the transporatation system to bring the monorail out to DHS and connect via Epcot. This not only brings DHS into the loop, in addition to boat and bus, but also could connect Disney's Boardwalk, Yacht Club, Beach Club area/potentially Dolphin and Swan to a monorail stop.

on the Vilians Park (5th Gate)-

I'm not too big on adding a Vilians-only park to be honest. Would Walt have really wanted that? For kids, having a vilians park seems scary. No?

this would make me soooooo happy.

I LOVE the idea of a villains park!!! Or at least a section of one devoted to the villains. Love that idea!

I like the idea of devoting a section of an existing park to villains or possibly just scattering some villain-focused attractions around all (or most) of the parks to continue getting them beefed up as desperately needed (at least those other than MK). For example, it would be logical to throw in a Scar-themed ride into DAK, which could still use some help even if Avatarland ever gets built.

Not sure villains fit into EPCOT, and not sure how much room they would have to play with at DHS after they take my advice and add significantly for Star Wars and Pixar (and eventually Marvel), but it could be a great fit for a new area at DHS if there is room. My understanding is that space is pretty limited at DHS.

I honestly don't care what they do as long as they are increasing the size of the parks. The added space is necessary to accommodate the increased load. An hour in line for a 3 min ride is an issue. More to do, fewer people in each line with the same number of people in the park.

There are alternatives, of course. Experts say they need to keep driving prices up to decrease the crowds:

A 5th gate for me at the moment is not the right choice

3 parks need work, but i will concentrate on the one for me that needs the most work, but ironically has the most potential (at least in my eyes)

DHS

needs quite a bit of work, it needs the hat gone, the backlot tour needs to go, it is a shadow of what it was originally meant to be, but i like the idea of behind the scenes at the movies, but i would much prefer the essence to be spread over the park, so you are learning about some part of film making everywhere, in a fun way of course

Hollywood Boulevard needs the hat gone so that entering the park and seeing the theater is our curtain opening moment on your experience, the rest of it is ok as it it, a few minor changes to shops and whats in them (something themed to the park maybe, not the same stuff available at DD/DS)

American Idol and the Sounds dangerous theater need re purposing, my personal preference would be to turn the whole echo lake area of the park into a special effects area, so you could keep the Indiana Jones show, maybe re purpose one of the theaters into a cgi/high tech special effects sort of show and tell, then do it yourself area, lots of green screens, make your own movie scenes in small groups type thing. And re purpose the other theatre into more of an old school /traditional effects experience, maybe include things from the back lot tour in here such as set design and costume, along with sound effects and movie 'tricks' (forced perspective) would be even better if that could be linked in with the streets of America Area (ir even better swap locations for streets of America and the current Star Wars attractions

The muppets i like the show but to stick with the parks theme, maybe use the muppets to tell how the movies have changed from the 19th century to today, keep it funny have a big miss piggy number from the height of the musicals, sam eagle in a western etc and just have some of it 3d, gonzo and rizzo as our guides/narrators/

Keep animation courtyard much as it is, just updated as and when needed, and add in either the monsters inc doorcoaster or a fast paced ride to do with some kind of animation concept (i know weak). Probably also expanded the area use some of the old prop/studio buildings make it nice and windy somewhere that you have to explore like you would a movie lot, and make sure there is lots of bustle going on, get some streetmosphere in there

The lights mtoors action is a good concept, live action, another genre of film, but maybe just update it the show could do with a little TLC and get rid of lightning mcqueen, there is a whole animatioon courtyard, not all movies are cartoons, keep it as what it is

Sun set Boulevard not too bad as it is, maybe just change the beauty and the Beast show (frozen? i know its obvious but would be a good fit) this area would be the sort of finished area of the movie process with Fantasmic, and the stage show, along with the rock show (or at least backstage passes to it) and Hollywood royalty in the luxury hotel

I personally would build a new area, behind where current star wars is, and next to streets of america (would involving rerouting a road, and some water works, but in the grand scheme of things nothing major) for Star Wars, i would make it a large land similar in size to future land in MK, but it doesnt lall have to be filled staright away, there are three more major movies coming out, plus tv series, spin of movies, this is an area that can have an addition every couple of years, and would guarantee people would come and visit (not everyones cup of tea of course, but there are so many SW fans out there that it is enough) now this is where no expense should be spared, it needs to be heavily heavily themed, to the same detail as HP is or the fantasyland toilets are :rotfl2:, as for the setting that is where im not sure, part of me thinks it should be as movies sets, and be a bit like streets of america where you can see the bits behind, because that is the only way i can see environments like yavin, hoth, coruscant etc all working together in one area, but then another part of me wants them to just build endor for example and make the whole area one part, in terms of the land, there would be star tours obviously, there should be maybe a dueling coaster based on xwing vs tie fighter, put in a pod racer spinner, because it seems everywhere has to have a spinny ride for the kids, an area for concept art, movie memorabilia, sneak peeks of costume/set for upcoming movies etc a bit like one mans dream but SW focused, and i would go for a BOG type restaurant that is QS lunch and TS evening meal, along with some properly themed merchandise locations, with stuff you can only buy there, not all over the property. keep the jedi academy its fun for the kids and a good concept, but make it have a purpose built area

I think if Disney do decide to add an additional park it may well be a premium high cost, low capacity attraction similar to Discovery Cove. Although with the Harembe Nights event in AK and the Epcot after-hours drinks it looks like they are trialling these sort of exclusive events in the existing parks.

I agree with others, Hollywood Studios needs sorting out before adding another gate, but Disney keep getting guests in no matter what the prices are so what is the incentive to them to do anything?

The only reason I go to HS right now is the 4 day pass for florida residents is only 20 dollars more for that 4th day. Which is just about right for me when it comes to going to HS. They make it more than 25 and ill just skip the park in its current state
